Teresa's Birthday Trip

Man - it's been nearly a month since I posted anything...sure doesn't mean we haven't been busy! Too busy to post maybe. I need to get better about short little daily posts so things don't get dusty around there, though.

So, my sister had a big birthday last month and we've been planning this girls' trip for a while! This past weekend was the first available where most were free - there were actually three folks missing, but they'll have to catch the next trip!

My sister's choice for the trip was to visit Fredericksburg - I was all over it b/c I had never been and it was Trade Days weekend and who would pass that up!?!? As if the shopping just in town wasn't enough, right??

So...we loaded up and off we went! Get ready for picture overload and this is just the few I loaded onto Flickr!
Toast to the Birthday Girl!

But she got better at it...(Don't I look exactly like everyone else in my family!?!?!) Ha ha ha!

We hit up all the stores in town first...

And this one, too - and we honestly did not shop one single chain store while we were there!!

And this sign b/c it said exactly what we were there to do! LOL

We went to the farmers' market, too while there & I bought some yummy heirloom tomatoes that I snacked on while we walked...and while exploring around the market we found this water wheel, too.

When we shopped every single store in town we headed out to the trade days, too!

There were antiques, craft, junk, food, novelties...anything you can imagine was there! Even a bar with live music and dancing! Next time we go back we will spend more days exploring here!

We did it justice, though and very nearly really did shop till we dropped!

On our last morning we enjoyed our breakfast outside...it was such great weather! So nice!!

We had decided to stop at Hamilton Pool on our route home...unfortunately the water was off limits that day so we couldn't swim, but it was still beautiful and definitely worth the hike! I sent the kids a picture and Emma though it was so neat - we'll be taking them for sure!

It was awesome!! The kids are going to love it!

Our trip home took a long time b/c we took the scenic route - the very scenic route! We drove through the National Forest, too and it was such a beautiful drive. We went through all the back roads and all the little towns...stunning! I told Michael we should move out to one of them. He said NO! LOL - Why not?? I grew up in the country! Country people are good people!

Yeah - I don't think I'll convince my city boy anytime soon about that one! :)

It was such a fun trip, though and I cannot wait to go again. It was very fun to have a long girls' weekend like that - I don't think I've done that since I got married. I did really miss my babies and was chomping at the bit to get back to them Sunday night, but it was a much needed trip and fun to celebrate my Big Sister! Love you Sis!
