Making Tamales

So a long time ago I told my MIL that I wanted to learn how to make tamales. Well that happened today! I have to say it isn't really hard, but it does take a long time. I make carnitas all the time and I always make so much I have lots left over that I use to make other recipes. Now I can add tamales to those recipes!
I've never used Masa before, now I am anxious to see what other things I can do with it, too! After it's mixed up, then there is the assembly... Then fold it all up... Then into the steam pot they go! Even Emma got in on the action! Job well done baby girl! Aaron had other interests... Though this was after we'd been there a while...both kids woke up this morning with sick tummies - I was up at 2AM when Aaron came in first, the later sister followed. Once it was out of their system they were fine, but just tired. So at first they both just wanted to lay down! A good nap was just the ticket! They both came around, though when the tamales were ready! They …

Keeping up with the Kubeczkas...

even I have a hard time doing that at times!! When I opened up my laptop to start this post I couldn't believe how long it had been since I posted last! Time has just flown by - which it does when you're busy all the time!

Mother's Day came and went and I didn't even post about it!  I couldn't be more proud to call this beautiful woman my mother - she is definitely a woman worth celebrating! My littles made it super special for me - she brought me breakfast in bed that morning before church!! And hubby made my Mother's Day special early when he agreed to bring our new little beauty into the house for my Mother's Day present...and he has been an awesome addition to our family! I love how this picture of me and my beautiful girl looks like a hear!! <3 p="">
I sure do love being Mommy to these two!
We got Soldier a new bed and I think the kids like it as much as he does...LOL! Right now there is room for two, but not for long! We weighed Soldie…

Meet Soldier

Sable and Stella got a new BIG little brother this weekend...his name is Soldier!
We were all in love instantly and it's like he's been part of the family all along!
Soldier is a Great Dane and right now he's between 3 and 4 months old. I had a Dane when I was younger and have wanted another one for so long...we already have two dogs, though and Michael wasn't convinced about a 3rd dog in the beginning. But after lots of long talks and a lot of pleading he came around to welcome Soldier into our home. And now he's smitten!!! Just like I knew he would be! Just like the kids and I are, too!

The nickname for Great Danes is Gentle Giant and it's for good reason. Every Dane I've met is sweet and gentle and loving...and Soldier is all of that for sure. He is already attached to me at the hip. He's like a shy kid - he literally hides behind my legs! And if I get up and leave the room he's right there!!
Sable & Stella have welcomed him in as well - thou…

3rd Annual JJ Watt Charity Classic

And these kiddos had a blast... As did all these kiddos...
We got a lot of autographs, including JJ's again, and Emma is tenacious about it - she went after those autographs like a champ and filled up her book!!! Gonna have to do something special with them now for her! We got pictures with a few, too (not even gonna make apologies for whatever happened to Aaron's hair that day - his faux mohawk went into frizz overdrive!!).
And Aaron got his own little special photo shoot!! Feigning shyness...ha ha ha!
Back off ladies. He's my little sweetie...for several more years anyway!! :)

Aaron getting our new QB to sign daddy's hat!
And the man himself, the host of the evening, JJ - striding over to sign a few autographs for all his fans!
And we got Hopkins' autograph three times - here's Emma getting him to sign the football...
And Aaron got his autograph on his program...
And at some point Michael got his hat signed, but I missed that photo op!

Post game fireworks we…
