Making Tamales

So a long time ago I told my MIL that I wanted to learn how to make tamales. Well that happened today! I have to say it isn't really hard, but it does take a long time. I make carnitas all the time and I always make so much I have lots left over that I use to make other recipes. Now I can add tamales to those recipes!

I've never used Masa before, now I am anxious to see what other things I can do with it, too!

After it's mixed up, then there is the assembly...

Even Emma got in on the action!

Aaron had other interests...

Though this was after we'd been there a while...both kids woke up this morning with sick tummies - I was up at 2AM when Aaron came in first, the later sister followed. Once it was out of their system they were fine, but just tired. So at first they both just wanted to lay down!

A good nap was just the ticket!

They both came around, though when the tamales were ready!

They were so yummy! We did restrain ourselves and between all of us there we only ate a few...and packaged up all the rest.
21 DOZEN!

It was hard to put these in the freezer and not finish them all off today! LOL
No, not bragging, but we did make some super yummy tamales!

Keeping up with the Kubeczkas...

even I have a hard time doing that at times!! When I opened up my laptop to start this post I couldn't believe how long it had been since I posted last! Time has just flown by - which it does when you're busy all the time!

Mother's Day came and went and I didn't even post about it!
I couldn't be more proud to call this beautiful woman my mother - she is definitely a woman worth celebrating!
I love you mommy so much - not only on Mother's Day, but every day of my life you're the best mother I could have ever asked for & the most amazing Teta - my kids are so lucky to have you in their lives!!! I love you, love you, love you!! πŸ’—:hea
My littles made it super special for me - she brought me breakfast in bed that morning before church!! And hubby made my Mother's Day special early when he agreed to bring our new little beauty into the house for my Mother's Day present...and he has been an awesome addition to our family!
This little girl right here made me a mommy and I cherish her everyday! Today she brought me breakfast in bed!!! Thank you for making me a mommy Emma!!! I love you!!!
I love how this picture of me and my beautiful girl looks like a hear!! <3 p="">
And Emma's little brother - he couldn't have a bigger heart! He's so full of love & mischief!!! Thank you for being my baby boy and giving me all the best sweet lovin' and being such a thoughtful little man - I am so happy to be your mommy!!
I sure do love being Mommy to these two!
Last minute shenanigans with my kitties before bedtime!! Love you, love you, love you!!!!!!
We got Soldier a new bed and I think the kids like it as much as he does...LOL!
Trying out Soldier's new bed! I don't think there will be room for two much longer, though!!
Right now there is room for two, but not for long! We weighed Soldier at the vet and he weighed in at 70lbs and he is only 6 months old.
He's just a big baby, though...he really does think he's a lap dog!
Had a window for a pregame nap!! Took advantage & chilled a bit! Go Rockets!!!!! πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€πŸ€
He's definitely a snuggler, too! This morning he went in with me to wake up Aaron and ended laying back in bed with him!
Snuggling with Soldier
That doesn't help me wake up Aaron to get ready for school! LOL
Sable is still playing Alpha Female in the house, but she is coming around. Stella just still wants to play - I mean, c'mon looking at this sweet face I know both my girls will eventually be playing big sister for Soldier!
"Yes, a walk!! Pretty please!!!" Who can deny that face!!! #GreatDane #GentleGiant 🐢🐢🐢
Stella is still in need of a spa day - summer's coming (hopefully) and she needs to be swimsuit ready! Ha ha!
I can't see! I can't see! This girl needs a day at the salon!
Or at least trim up her curls to be a little cooler for this HTown heat!

Today was the only day we haven't had rain in a while and I was thankful b/c mother and I had plans for the day - we spent all day walking through Old Town Spring. A day really isn't enough to see it all, though.
We took our time through several awesome shops and when we finally realized how late in the afternoon it was we had to take to window shopping as we walked back around to the car b/c it was getting close to time when school was out.
Been playing all day with mom!!!
Window shopping is fun, too and we scoped out which stores we wanted to start with next time!

Tonight we had a low key start to our first day of the long holiday weekend...just a nice dinner out! Of course, gotta share daddy's salad! LOL
Sharing a salad with daddy!
We'll see what we get into the rest of the weekend!

Meet Soldier

Sable and Stella got a new BIG little brother this weekend...his name is Soldier!

We were all in love instantly and it's like he's been part of the family all along!

Soldier is a Great Dane and right now he's between 3 and 4 months old. I had a Dane when I was younger and have wanted another one for so long...we already have two dogs, though and Michael wasn't convinced about a 3rd dog in the beginning. But after lots of long talks and a lot of pleading he came around to welcome Soldier into our home. And now he's smitten!!! Just like I knew he would be! Just like the kids and I are, too!

The nickname for Great Danes is Gentle Giant and it's for good reason. Every Dane I've met is sweet and gentle and loving...and Soldier is all of that for sure. He is already attached to me at the hip. He's like a shy kid - he literally hides behind my legs! And if I get up and leave the room he's right there!!
Untitled
Sable & Stella have welcomed him in as well - though Sable is definitely letting him know that she is the alpha dog in this house...and honestly, Soldier is fine to let her be, too! LOL! I have to admit I did bribe Sable a little bit & brought a very nice treat home for her before we picked up Solder!
Sable's in heaven - she got a treat as big as she is!! LOL 🐢🐢🐢
Sable can walk completely under Soldier right now he's so much bigger than her, but you wouldn't know - she acts like she is ten feet tall! Ha ha! Stella on the other hand is just happy for another playmate...this shaggy girl (who's going to have a spa day next week) didn't have a moment of pause accepting Soldier!!
Untitled
Michael was out of town today so mother and I took the kids and Soldier to the park for a fun afternoon & a little leash work for Soldier! He did really well!
Untitled
Our lunch was a picnic in the park, which is always fun!

We're so happy to have Soldier in our home!!

3rd Annual JJ Watt Charity Classic

And these kiddos had a blast...
As did all these kiddos...

We got a lot of autographs, including JJ's again, and Emma is tenacious about it - she went after those autographs like a champ and filled up her book!!! Gonna have to do something special with them now for her! We got pictures with a few, too (not even gonna make apologies for whatever happened to Aaron's hair that day - his faux mohawk went into frizz overdrive!!).
And Aaron got his own little special photo shoot!! Feigning shyness...ha ha ha!
Back off ladies. He's my little sweetie...for several more years anyway!! :)

Aaron getting our new QB to sign daddy's hat!
And the man himself, the host of the evening, JJ - striding over to sign a few autographs for all his fans!
And we got Hopkins' autograph three times - here's Emma getting him to sign the football...
And Aaron got his autograph on his program...
And at some point Michael got his hat signed, but I missed that photo op!

Post game fireworks were also enjoyed!
And it was actually after all else was over that we got JJ's autograph...or rather Emma got it I should say! She was determined and she got it!

Look how proud she looks!!!
Yeah - Michael is beaming, too isn't he! I'll be surprised if he actually let's the ball (signed by Hopkins and JJ) go up in her room - but she did the work for it, so I think she has rights to it (even though it is really Aaron's ball).
What a great evening...and the JJWatt Foundation is a great cause, too! We've made two of the three of these events and I hope it becomes an annual event for the Kubeczkas, too!
