I have a First Grader!!

First Grade!! Wow - cannot believe that I have a first grader now!!! Doesn't seem possible she is that big. I mean she'll be 7 years old this year - that just cannot be...can it??

She was excited about all the new clothes, backpack, etc., but said she was really ready for another summer break to be here! Ha ha - just means she has had a blast this summer! She has a really nice teacher this year and said she had a great time today. Her teacher has a "library" in her classroom, which really excited Emma - she is a big reader already and is reading so well! She told me mostly about the "library" today and about all her friends she got to see today.
First Grade
We snapped a few pics at home this morning (had to catch her all sleepy eyed, too having her b'fast - hee hee) and then I went off and left my camera at home so relied on my phone to get some pictures at school...it was a lot different dropping her off to First Grade than it was for Kindergarten - more excited and less emotional (for mommy).

First Grade
And, of course, baby brother had to get in a picture with his big sister!
First GradeNow tonight we are off to gymnastics! School doesn't change our busy evening routine that's already in place. Just adds homework to the mix!

Hope you all had a wonderful first day back to school as well!!

How Proud I Am

So, last week before we took off to Garner Emma made me so proud - she made an extremely generous, unselfish decision to donate her hair to Locks of Love!
OhMyGosh! OhMyGosh!  Sooooo proud of my big girl for being so generous, but sad to see all her pretty hair gone! Happy it's for such a good cause, though! #LocksOfLove
She cut ten inches to donate - about twelve inches were gone total after they straightened it up. She loves her new haircut and tells me how some little girl is going to get a good wig from her donation!
10 inches gone! Proud of my girl!! #locksoflove
It's still below her shoulders and actually looks much thicker now. I nearly cried when they cut it - for two reasons. One because it was hard to watch that much of her hair get cut, but two because I was just so proud of my sweet girl for making such a big girl decision and thinking of other people and wanting to do something to help someone else that she doesn't even know.

We've been on the Locks of Love website & looked at little girls who've lost their hair b/c of chemo treatments and at pictures of my mom when she didn't have hair b/c of chemo - I wanted to make sure she really knew what a grand gesture it was that she did! My girl is growing up and becoming such a beautiful person inside and out!

I love you sweet girl and am so proud of you!

Camping @ Garner State Park

This past week we took off for the hill country! We camped for the week with our family in Garner State Park - lots of cousins, hiking, campfire cooking, swimming in the Frio River - it was a blast! It was hard to get back into the groove of things today after having such a fun relaxing week away, though! I think it's the start of another family tradition, too!

Here are a few pics of our week...

This is Mt. Baldy - we hiked to the very top our first full day there! Our campsite is right at the bottom - you can't see it for the trees, but it's at the bottom of the picture at the end of the road you can see.

We found this on the trek up - someone sat and played for a while!

We rode bikes everywhere, too....

We had fun in the water, too - a LOT - though we don't have many pics b/c I left my waterproof case at home. Trust me, though it was so awesome - especially on the day the temp got to 106 degrees! H.O.T!!
Floatin with my little man! #familycampingtrip #garnerpark
Sites book up 333 days in advance we were told - so we're planning our trip for next July now and hope to book our sites quickly. If ya wanna go, better plan it now! You won't regret it, either - it was a lot of fun! I even got brave and was jumping off the high rocks into the river. Emma & Aaron thought Mommy was pretty cool! I think Michael was pretty impressed with me, too! ;)

School starts back in two weeks so this was the perfect way to end our summer break! Lots of great memories!!! We still have the next two weekends booked, too and somewhere in all that we have to get school shopping done, too. I don't think things will slow down till we retire! LOL
