Tee-Ball and Crashing Cars

We have had a great weekend...it started Friday night with a girls' night for me, which was an awesome way to end the week and start the weekend for me! Saturday we rose bright and early and were out the door in record time for a Saturday to watch this cute little guy run the bases!!
Our nephew had his first ever tee-ball game Saturday morning and I think he had the biggest fan base there! They were all so cute and you could really see the determination on his face while he was playing!

Michael is so anxious to be out there with Aaron, too - another year or two, though maybe!!
That evening after a fun day of tee-ball and hotdogs we drove out to watch the Demolition Derby. My brother and sister, my niece and her three kids, and another great-niece met us out there. I have a faint memory of going to one of these when I was very little, but don't really remember much about it! Two things to note - it's loud and like SeaWorld, the first few rows are in a splash zone so to speak!! Yeah - I got dirt thrown on me!! LOL! It was a lot of fun, though and the kids really liked it!
All the pictures unfortunately are through a fence, but it was safer that way for sure! Dirt was flying everywhere, bumpers were falling off, it would have been bad if something else came flying out into the crowd! I have to say, I think to be a driver in this kind of event you have to be just a little bit crazy, too!!! Ha ha!

So, tomorrow it is back to the grind, but it's a very short week for us!! I hope you've had a wonderful weekend as well!

Family Fotos For Friday

Kids With Grannie
Last weekend when we went up to Broaddus for Aunt Vertie's funeral I snapped a couple quick pics of my babies with Grannie. Aaron isn't one for posing these days (as I've stated many times here), so I take whatever I can get with him! One of these days he'll start to understand how a bribe works and then it's on!!! He's gonna have to Smile & say Cheeesssee for the camera to get something from me! LOL! Hey - I'm not above bribing my kids for grins!

We already have a full weekend planned out, so hopefully I'll have a good recap next week!!

Have a Great Weekend!

Lookie what I made!

Homemade Granola Bars!!! Yep - and they were super yummy! And super easy!
Found via Pinterest, of course, but verified that they were yummy from a coworker that made them - she said they didn't last any time at her house - so I finally decided to give them a try last night! And as you can see, this is what the pan looked like after dinner...by bedtime there were even fewer!!
I WILL be making these more often - and there are so many ways you can make these based on what you like in a granola bar!

Here is the recipe I used - let me know if you try it out & how you liked it!!

Dinner on the Patio & Snowcones

The weather here has been so beautiful lately - I love it! I love being able to play outside and not have feel like I'm suffocating...and b/c my migraines are so bad, the typical Houston heat tends to make them worse if I'm out in it all day. But...for now I'm not complaining about the Houston weather, b/c it's been spectacular and we're taking full advantage! Yesterday we had dinner outside on the patio - which the kids loved, but I'm here to tell you that it's hard to keep a toddler at the table and eating when the weather is beautiful out & there is a play set and ball & bat very near by and he isn't strapped into a high chair! LOL!! I kept calling him back to the table to finish eating, to which he just replied, "No Thank You!!" - I wasn't offering you something buddy - I was TELLING you to come eat!! He's so cute, though even in defiance, it's hard to get too mad!

Emma was teaching him how to say Cheers!
Eventually he did eat enough that I thought dessert was in order, so we headed off to our favorite Snow Cone Man - Mista Mack - for a frozen treat!

I had Ice Cream flavor, daddy got Watermelon, and the kids both got Rainbow!
(Mine was the best!!!)
Last year I always got Wedding Cake for Aaron b/c it was yummy, but was white - so no stains! When you have toddlers you think about these things! I didn't remember the flavor, though and after we had ordered and sat down to enjoy Emma said, "Mommy - you have to get Wedding Cake for Aaron b/c it's white!" I swear the girl has the memory of an elephant! Thanks for the reminder Emma - so, next time that's what we'll get! I did change his shirt before we left so at least it wasn't a good shirt that got the color all over it this time!

I hope this beautiful weather hangs around for a while so we can have more days like this. Tonight Michael is grilling some yummy steaks so we'll be out enjoying it again - hmm...wonder if I can talk him into another trip to see Mista Mack, too!!

Happy Hump Day!

Have ya missed me??

Or did ya at least notice I haven't been around in a week!?!? LOL

I'll just say that life has been keeping me us on the move! It's been good, though it just slows me down from posting. If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram or if we're friends on Facebook you probably see my updates as we're on the go anyway, I just need to find more time to sit & actually write up my posts on a more regular basis.

This past week we lost a dear member of our family. My Aunt Vertie (she is really my mother's first cousin) past away this past week. She was 91 years old and lived a very full life. She was a practical jokester, always the life of the party, she was a Christian woman, she was a great mother & grandmother, and she will be missed. We said goodbye to her Saturday and while it was hard, I take comfort in knowing what a legacy she left behind & that she is now with Uncle Wilson in heaven and that she is no longer in any pain. She went home from the hospital and was with her immediate family for six hours - visiting, laughing, smiling, loving - then past away very peacefully.

Sadly funerals often times become the only reunions we have with family and friends, too. But in all that sadness, the fellowship brings a lot of happiness with it. It was great to see family that I haven't seen in a long time.

So, even though it was sad, it was also a good time to see family - and I even got to see my hubby! Michael had gone up to East Texas two days prior to fish in a tournament with my brother and since that is where the funeral was held my parents, the kids, & I drove up Saturday morning early, picked up my Grannie, then after the funeral we all went out together for lunch with Michael and my brother and got to hear their fish "tales"! Michael did place on the first day of the tournament by the way - but failed to get a picture of his catch!!

The rest of the weekend was spent visiting, playing, going to church, and just vegging! iPhone Update
The flowers were a very sweet "thank you" from a very sweet coworker! The lily is in a pond where our group went for a work offsite - the place was beautiful and we had such great weather! It was nice to work outside the office for a while! The grapes are at my parents' house - they have a jasmine and a grapevine growing over the swing arbor my daddy built for the kiddos at their house - you can see that in the picture in the bottom left of my dad pushing the kids! The rest of the pics I figure speak for themselves!

I realized today that it's been about 12 years now since I started blogging and I have to say the face of blogging (not just my own) has made a lot of changes over the years! I've met so may great folks through blogging and learned and shared so much along the way. It's such a fun journey!!

Hope you had a nice weekend and here's to a great week ahead!

Fun Times with Friends

Friday night we had friends over to play poker - I think it was the smallest group that's ever been here to play, though. I think everyone had fun & the game went on till after 1am!!!

Then yesterday we had friends that we haven't seen in a very, very long time come by and spend the day with us! Michael, the kids, & I ran around all morning doing errands and made it home around lunch time with these yummy bugs for everyone!
I call dibs on this big guy!!! #crawfish
The guys boiled crawfish, the kids swam & played, and us mommies got to catch up on everything with each other! We had a 27lbs of crawfish and we polished them all off!! I couldn't believe it!!! We had a lot of fun doing it, too - the kids had a lot of fun splashing around in the water & playing all afternoon, too. It's been way too long since we were able to get together - I think each of these kids were about a foot shorter the last time we were all together!

(I think these boys shop at the same stores - LOL)
Life gets busy for everyone, but when we said goodbye we said we wouldn't let so much time go by before the next time we all hung out!

Today is kinda quiet around here - we went to church, had brunch, then I had some mommy time & went for a mani/pedi while the kids were supposed to be napping - well, Aaron was supposed to be napping. He kept crawling out of his bed!!! Now basketball is on, the kids are playing, and I'm just vegging for a bit before Teta & Geddo come by later this afternoon to visit! Today is nice and relaxing after a busy, but fun, weekend with friends!

Have a great Sunday!!

Foto Friday: Bubbles

Going in to a busy weekend (starting in about 15 minutes), so I thought I would leave you with a fun picture I took playing in the back yard yesterday!
Have a great Friday & an even better weekend!!

Too Many Pictures

for one post...so our four day weekend is going to have be spread out over multiple posts!! I guess it's really four and a half days b/c the kids had their first egg hunt at the sitter's house Thursday afternoon. It was Emma's 2nd already b/c she had one at school before she came to the sitter's to hunt eggs with Aaron!

We dyed eggs Friday at my parents' house...and that night the kids spent the night there so Michael & I had a date night. Saturday morning we picked them & my parents up and we headed to the zoo. We had a blast...and instead of cooking a big Easter meal we packed a picnic & ate our Easter dinner at the zoo! It was fantastic. Those pics will come later in their own post.

Sunday morning after the kids found their Easter Baskets & their lollipops that grew (we plant Jelly Beans that the Easter Bunny magically makes grow into lollipops), my parents went with us to church and then out for brunch. Then we headed to my in-laws' house to celebrate Easter with them. We had a good time & the kids had a blast with their cousins. They hunted eggs & hid them for their daddies to hunt, dyed eggs, & played bubbles - we always end up outside with bubbles when we visit! LOL! Hey - who doesn't love bubbles??

Here are a few pics from our weekend...with the exception of the zoo pics!
Easter Collage

Michael and I took an extra day off yesterday, too and spent the day in Galveston. The weather was so nice...we took our bikes & rode up & down the seawall and after lunch spent some time on the Strand, too! Date nights are fun, but I think I've found that I prefer Date DAYS instead - it's nice to have to entire day to ourselves like that!!

I hope you and your family had a wonderful Easter weekend as well!

Weekend Road Trip

This past weekend we took a trip up to East Texas to visit my Grannie. Michael and my brother spent all their time out on the lake fishing & Emma got to go out on the lake in the boat for the first time...I think she liked it! We all had a great time!

The mosquitoes are so bad around here right now, too & despite spraying Emma & Aaron down with repellant, poor Aaron still got ate up. :( I felt so bad for my little man, though it didn't really slow him down one bit!

That's my brother in the picture holding the fish...and the picture of the kiddos on the washer, well my Grannie's washer is off balance or something & when it goes into spin cycle there is a lot of movement...so, the kids sat on top of it & had a fun little ride! Country entertainment, what can I say! LOL!!

Emma wasn't the only one that enjoyed the boat ride!! Riding on the lake is so relaxing!
This picture was early morning before church - they got up to watch cartoons before getting dressed - Emma's Barbies joined them on the couch. I think they must have just woke up - I just thought they looked so cute!
And I got pretty flowers from my pretty girl!!
And we made dirt cake - oh, what a hit this was!
And sat up till midnight playing cards...
I need a 7 please!! And a manicure!! #cards
(yes...I need a mani...)
Michael was worn out from being out on the water & in the sun, so I drove home & my mom (who rode up with us) kept me company while Michael passed out in the back! He got a bit burned!! After we got home he perked up, mowed the grass, I put up all the laundry (I washed everything at Grannie's before we left) and then we went out for dinner - cooking was the last thing on my mind...well, maybe the thought of cleaning up the kitchen at the end of the day was really the deciding factor...headed in to eat I snapped this picture.
Pictures like this really melt my heart! My mother & her baby brother had an amazing relationship and I pray my two are hand in hand like this forever as well. They tell one another 'I Love You' all the time and my heart skips a bit each time I hear it! They had a blast this weekend playing together at Grannie's - they really do love one another's company!
