The Happy Graduate & Daughter

Elaine took this at graduation! She fell asleep about five minutes later (Emma...not Elaine)!!!

Post slacking

So, my posts are slowing down here I realize - I need to make an effort to post at least two or three times a week, but I haven't had the time. I think now that school is over, though I'll be able to get more posted here, though.

I've had a couple full weeks now of not having to come home late from being at class - it's awesome! I've been cooking dinner every night and going for walks with Emma & the neighbors (while Michael cleans up after dinner - thanks honey), and have joined weight watchers with my neighbor. So far I've lost 4.6lbs in these two weeks!

We went out of town for Memorial weekend and took the four wheeler up to the country to play some! Had a great time! My niece had a baby shower that Sunday, too! She is expecting in August, but had her shower this weekend b/c she is in the Marines and her sister is in the Navy and this was the only weekend they were both home before the baby comes. She is still running 6 miles a day - at least she will be until she is 22 weeks along! She is having a little girl, too! More girls everywhere!

I also bought a new camera - no, not a new DSLR, I still use my Canon Rebel (one day I'll get to upgrade) - this is a new point and shoot, but of course still a canon. It's the SD750 and I love it! Great point & shoot camera!!

I bought Miss Emma a new "toy", too!

Yes, that's my daughter on the potty! I bought her a little seat for it - I don't think she's quite ready to go into full blown potty training, but I figure it's not too early to get her used to it! She is very aware these days of when she goes potty in her diaper and tells me "Tee Tee"...and in fact when I sat her on this new potty seat she even went Pee Pee in the Potty! I was very proud!! She was too - and you can tell from the expression on her face! She hasn't gone since, but she sits on it and thinks she is doing something big! Hopefully one of our Christmas presents will be that we don't have to spend any more $$$ on diapers! Wouldn't that be nice??

Oh...other than her potty seat I also bought Miss Emma a spout cover for her bathtub finally!! It works great to keep her from bumping her head on the faucet and you can lift the hat to put in bubbles, too!

Graduation Day

I had a great day today!!! Thank you so much to everyone that came out to celebrate with me! It was so cool to walk across that stage today and get hooded as a scholar! Honestly, it still hasn't hit me that I'm actually done. Tuesday it will when I don't have to go to class, though. There was only one row of MBA students to the many, many of undergrads! We were the first row behind the professors. I did want to try to see one of my professors afterwards and have her meet Emma - I was pregnant when I took her class and she has seen pictures only of Emma since - but I couldn't find her after we left the coliseum. Ah well - I guess pictures will have to continue to suffice for now.

Everyone came back to the house afterwards. We had ordered fajitas for everyone and it was delicious and a lot of food! We still have leftovers for me and Michael to have dinner tomorrow! It was great to visit with everyone and I even got some nice goodies, too!! Cards, money, roses, balloons (that sing), a great smelling candle, stationery set and frame, beautiful wall decoration, and a digital picture frame. I've been wanting one for a long time and Kenny & Elaine bought me a nice one that I am going to take to my office! Thank you again everyone for celebrating with me!!

Now we've got the house cleaned up and made a run to Academy for Michael and are just chilling. I had a headache that was creeping up on me since about noon. It's not put me down, but has been there all day. Emma fell asleep while we were at Academy and when we came home I thought I would take a nap with her, but she decided she didn't want to sleep anymore and that she was hungry. So, I made her some chicken quesadillas from some of our leftovers. She ate them up - she loves quesadillas! Now I think she is getting sleepy again, though so we're going to snuggle on the couch. It is way past her bedtime, but we get to sleep in tomorrow after having to be up at 6:30 on a Saturday!! It was worth it, though - what a wonderful day!!! I am so happy!

Here we are!!

All that is left is the pomp & circumstance...

My last final went quick last night - I was out of there in around half an hour!!! I only needed a 78 to maintain an A in the class so I wasn't too stressed! The test wasn't hard at all, though. We had a great professor this year and we reviewed so much that I knew the material backward and forward I think!!! When it was over we all went for a beer (including our professor) to celebrate! I only stayed for one beer b/c Michael was cooking us dinner last night! It was good to sit in a social setting with my classmates, though. I've made some pretty good friends in grad school, but sadly we really don't get to see one another except for school. I know I'll keep in touch with a few of them, though!

So, tomorrow is the day! I have to be on campus at 9:00AM & graduation starts at 10:00AM!! There are less than 30 students getting hooded for their MBA tomorrow I think. I had a copy of the program emailed to me - I'll have to go count them later!! I am so excited!!!!

Afterwards everyone that is going is coming back to our house to visit and have fajitas - oh, speaking of I have to order that this morning!!!

I don't really feel that sigh of relief yet, but my coworker made a good point yesterday that next Tuesday is when it will really hit - when I realize not only do I not have to go to class after work that day, that I don't have to go to class any other day either!!!! I think he is right!!

Tonight's the Night!!

My last class! I am so excited!!!

I have a final at 6:00 and when it's over we (including our professor) are all going over to Willie's Ice House to have a couple of beers to celebrate (hmmm - I wonder if he does that with his undergrads, too)!! I've had most of my classes with a lot of people in this class and about 75% of us in there are graduating on Saturday so we've all got to know one another pretty well. Two of the girls I was closest to have already graduated, though. I still have to buy a scantron before class tonight, too. I have one last one specifically for this final at home, but I couldn't find it so I'll just have to make a stop at the bookstore on my way!

Daily Venting & Exclamations...

Another clever (or not) idea...

I came across another neat find today. On-Duty and Off-Duty pillows for mom and dad to know whose turn it is to get up in the middle of the night. Trouble is I have a feeling Michael's pillow would be in the off position too much!!!

Thank goodness we don't have to get up with Emma so much anymore. Every once in a while we do, but recently I think it's been because she just had four new teeth come in.

48 Hours Away...

from being completely finished with grad school!!! WOW!!! I remember just a few months ago being so excited that I was registering for my very last semester and now I'm just days away from getting hooded!!!

I had a presentation to give for one of my classes tonight and Thursday night I have a final, but then that's it. No more...ever (unless I go back to finish the few classes I need to sit for the CPA, too)!!

Tonight was quick, too. We had five group presentations and three of them were last week. Tonight there were just two. Ours and one other so as soon as we were done it was over. I got an A in this class. Of course, I only needed to get 57 points out of 100 on this presentation to keep my A so I wasn't too worried about it. We did a kick-ass presentation tonight, though. Everyone really liked it. We had a lot of audience interaction and even a few laughs, which was great for our grade!

I need to finish studying tonight and tomorrow for that last final. I've been studying for it quite a bit already and pretty much know everything for the exam so these last couple of days should be more like a review for me than anything else.

Whew! I am just ready to relax a bit!!!!

Quick Post: Cool Find

I really like stuffed animals. I had a lot growing up myself and now Emma has tons as well! When I was little I had a hammock in my room where my stuffed animals hung out (pun intended). I haven't found one for Emma's room, though. She has a little on in there, but it really only holds a couple of animals. So, I've had them in bins and strollers and wherever to keep them put up. There really are too many, though!

I found this at a site I read...it's called the Zoo Keeper. I still think it would take up quite a bit of room and it's about $100 I think, but it's a cute idea.

Saturday we put up a little pool in my mother's backyard w/ the little slide we have there for Emma! She LOVED it!!

Happy Mother's Day

Flowers and a nice leather case for my iPhone from my honey and Emma!!

Happy Graduation to me!

Amish Friendship Bread

Ten days ago mother gave me a starter for some Amish Friendship Bread. This weekend it was time to bake it! The recipe called for a large box of vanilla instant pudding, but I only had two small boxes - one of vanilla and the other chocolate. Well, I used my creative license and gave it a try and used both. It turned out so yummy!!!! It was also supposed to be baked in two glass loaf dishes - I only have one and was too impatient to cook one and then wait to cook the other, so I used my square glass dish and it still turned out great!

So, now I have four starters. I am going to keep one, but need to give the other three away. I told my neighbor I would give her one - I typically don't bake I told her and she said the same so I know if I can do it, so can she! I think this time, though I'll be true to the recipe and just use vanilla pudding, though this one was very good!

This is how I got the starter ten days ago!

It's Friday...yay.

Sorry I don't sound more enthused about the weekend being here - I am just too tired to be excited. Emma was up a lot last night. I don't know if she is having bad dreams, or is taking too long of naps, or is getting sick, or just wants to be with her mommy...but a couple hours after she goes to sleep she's up again. **yawn** And it makes for a VERY early morning when you've been trying to get a little one back to sleep. I would just assume put her in bed with us and go back to sleep (nope, I don't see a single problem with kids sleeping with their parents - I did it and turned out just fine. Look, I'll even have my MBA in 15 days!!), but Michael isn't too keen on the idea. He puts up with it b/c he doesn't want to get up either and the alternative is me getting up with her by myself and then griping at him for not getting up, too!! Usually once she falls back to sleep real good we put her back in her bed and she is out for the rest of the night. I would just let her stay there, but a queen size bed just doesn't provide enough room for a toddler - I don't know why it is that something so small needs so much room to sleep!! It's worse than an full grown adult I think sometimes!

I thought it was going to storm on us earlier today, but all those dark clouds went away and now it's just overcast out there. I wanted to get outside and take some pictures this weekend so I hope the weather stays alright. We'll see!

May Day (random thoughts)

I cannot believe that it is already May! Time is going by so fast...and thankfully, too! I have 16 days left now until graduation! I still have a bit of work to finish for the semester, but it won't be hard to finish. I have been pondering what it will be like to read a book for fun rather than because I have to. I have a friend who has already offered me a couple of loans from her library! I also want to get my frame picked out so my MBA degree will match my undergrad. I'm going to bring them both up to my office to hang. My undergrad has been in my dad's office all these years. I want to put them side by side, though now that I have them both.

Also, my baby girl is going to be 17 months old on Saturday! WOW! Just about a year and a half old now! She is such a big girl and looks it in her pigtails, too! I've been thinking about all the pictures that I take of her...while they are all online I think I might start picking out my top 50 or even 100 from each year to get printed into books so that we can have hard copies of pictures. I can always have back ups on CDs and Fotki is always dependable and backs up everything, but I just like to sit down and flip through photo books sometimes, too. So, that might be a good project for this summer.

This morning it really looked like it was going to storm. The sky was pretty dark outside my window, but it seems to have all pushed off now...I think we have a higher chance of rain tomorrow, though. I should have gone outside today during lunch to walk since tomorrow it might not be an option. I ended up working through half of lunch so by that time I just decided to get something from downstairs and bring it back up to my desk. After a while going outside during lunch to walk won't be much of a option b/c it is going to be miserably HOT! I need to take advantage of all the good weather days now while it is still bearable to be out there.

We've been outside a lot more at home lately, too. Emma loves to play outside and lately we've been playing with lots of bubbles! It's so cute to hear her say it, too! I need to take a video of her playing in the bubbles!! Now when I go pick her up from the baby sitter's they are usually out in the backyard and she wants to stay and play instead of getting into the car to go home! LOL!

I got a massage today at 1:00 - just a 15 minute chair massage. Every Thursday we can sign up for 15 minute massages - I should have scheduled 2 sessions for today b/c I didn't want it to be over so soon!! The girl who is here now is really good. She's been gone a while and they had a couple fill-ins. One was terrible! I wished I could have taken that visit back!

Well, I've posted enough random thoughts for this May Day! Enjoy your day!
