Is it really only 11:00?

It feels so late to me...I think b/c Emma had such a hard time falling asleep tonight. She already went to bed a couple of times and ended up getting back up, but now I think she is finally down for the night. I was ready to go to bed around 8:30 actually.

She took a step or two tonight!!! She has been pushing her little chair around the living room all night (she does that all the time) and I put her down about two feet from it, she stood there for a minute and took a step toward it so I scooted it back a little and she took another step, but then she went down on her hiney!! She didn't do any more than that, though!! It won't be long I'm sure until she is walking!

I ordered her a couple of birthday presents tonight, too. It's still a couple months until her birthday, but I found something I really wanted to get her and it was on sale/clearance so I was afraid if I didn't order it now then it would no longer be offered later.

We had a busy morning today - we ran errands starting around 7:30. About 11:00 we both fell asleep on the couch for about three hours.  You know, before I was never really able to take naps. I always felt so much worse after the nap, but these days I find myself taking naps from time to time. Usually on my Fridays off Emma and I snuggle up on the couch for either her morning or afternoon nap or she falls asleep on me while I'm reclining on the loveseat. I guess as you get older you need more naps, huh!?!?

Well, now that she is finally out I think I might try to get some sleep myself - though, now I won't be able to fall asleep. That's how it usually is - when you can't go to sleep you could easily fall asleep, but then when you finally get the chance you're too wired! Ha!!

It finally happened...

This morning as soon as Michael got up he went to check on Emma. Normally, he doesn't go in there until he is ready to leave for the day...but not this morning - thankfully! After about thirty seconds he came back in our bedroom & said, "Hey, can you come in here and help me?" Emma had managed to take off her dirty diaper during the night or sometime this morning - either way it was all over the place. When I walked into her bedroom he met me at the door with a naked baby!!! I just took her to the kitchen and sat her in the sink (we have deep kitchen sinks) and bathed her there while Michael stripped the bed - bumper pads, comforter/blankets, sheets, her teddy bear, night shirt...everything got a little touch of it!!

Every parent I know has a story about the mess their child made with a dirty diaper...well, no we have ours, too!! Thanks for that memory Emma! Ha ha!

I'm still here...

just extremely busy with work and school! After an 8:00 AM meeting tomorrow at least there will be a little relief at work, though...and after Thursday night a big assignment will be done for the case we've been working on - soooo, that means this weekend I should be able to relax!!!! Yay!

It didn't help that I didn't get to go to work on Monday either, so that made today even that much busier b/c I had to play catch up getting ready for the meeting in the morning. Monday morning after I dropped Emma off at the baby sitter and tried to crank my jeep and go to work it wouldn't start. :( Turns out it was the battery, but we couldn't jump it - I called roadside assistance b/c I thought we were going to have to get it towed, but the wrecker driver was able to jump it. He connected the cables to something other than the battery itself - got it cranked so we could take it home, but then had to get a new battery. I was just glad it was really the battery - when we couldn't jump it I was scared it wasn't something really major. So, a new battery and a few hours at the mechanic (ended up changing the oil in both vehicles and getting them both inspected) later and most of the day was gone.

Actually, we had to buy new gas caps b/c they said both the truck and the jeep failed inspection b/c the gas caps were both not sealing well. They were both factory caps, too - we've never bought new ones. Never thought there would be a reason. Has anyone heard of that before??? It was only $20, so I'm not really complaining, but would hate to know that isn't something that is really possible!

Anyway...we have new gas caps now and new stickers so it was still a productive day just not workwise...and after all that was done and we were back home I spent the afternoon working on my homework assignment - so it was a very productive day. It did make today at work kinda hectic, but everything got done and we're ready for our meeting in the morning.

What a Monday!

Thank you!

My mother went in this morning to have a biopsy done on a spot in her lung - she's been pretty worried about it with all she went through last year. Daddy just called me this morning to let me know that they went in, but didn't find anything. The spot was just gone!!!! They said everything looks good and she is going to be fine!!

Thank you Lord for taking care of my mother!!!

The Bracelet of Bordeaux

I read in the news this morning that a film was shot here in the area where I live - it went straight to DVD & I think I might check it out! I don't know if it's be a top 10 for me, but I still think it will be interesting to see regardless! It's called The Bracelet of Bordeaux and the star of the show is a papillon named Rufus...well, if the star is a pup then I think it will definitely be worth watching!!

Michael, Elaine, and a couple other friends have been going behind my back for a couple of months it seems planning a surprise 30th b'day party for me!! Saturday, the "dinner" I was supposed to be having at Elaine's house for my b'day turned into a birthday party - there was a house full of my family and friends waiting when we got there!!! I was very excited to see everyone!! It was so sweet! I think everyone was thrilled they pulled it off! Thank you all very much! I had a great time!

Goodbye 20's!!

I can't believe it...I'm 30 years old today! Wow!!! Does this mean I have to act all grown up now? Michael says I do that anyway...too serious!! ha ha!

I've been up since about 4:00 this morning. Not thinking about this (30 really doesn't bother me) - I just couldn't sleep. So I got up to finish working on some homework for class tonight. Yep, I gotta go to class on my b'day! That's alright we're going to celebrate this weekend. We're having dinner out on Friday and then going to Kenny & Elaine's Saturday night - Kenny is going to be cooking dinner!!!

Well, Michael just left and Miss Emma and I need to get dressed and head out now, too!!

Feeling better...just tired!

I think we're pretty much all better now...just laying around being a little tired. I had hoped that we would get to visit Miss Katelynn today, but Emma and I decided to stay home while Michael went over to his brother's house to watch football. Emma isn't contagious, but you know better safe than sorry. Katelynn's isn't even a month old yet. I would feel so bad if she got sick because of us! Maybe we'll get to see her next weekend.

I think Emma and I are going to rest up this morning. I may see if my parents want to come over after church. There is a new store in Old Towne Spring that I want to check out and I am sure mother wouldn't be opposed to checking it out either!!

We're watching Pretty Woman right now, but I think Emma is getting ready to take her morning nap and I need to put up laundry, too. I'm kinda hungry, too. I haven't really eaten anything since lunch on Friday b/c I have been so I think I'll find me some brunch!!!

Learning to share...

ugh...Emma had a little tummy problems and she was so nice and shared them with her mommy. I was sick all evening yesterday and through the night and still feel a little queasy this morning. She's all better now running around playing and I'm the one laying around on the couch now. I hope by this afternoon it will be all over with...

My Darling

I just love this picture...

Tuesday, September 04, 2007, err Tuesday morning!

After five days off it is hard to come back and get on schedule this morning. I have staff meetings every Tuesday morning and I had to remind myself that was today& not tomorrow!! I'll be good after the coffee gets down, though!

We did have a great Labor Day weekend, though. We went up to East Texas for the annual Stanley Cup (clay shoot at my sister's) - Michael shot this year with our neighbor. I took the pictures again and will hopefully have them all posted tomorrow. I've decided that next year I am going to shoot. I can still take pictures, but just won't be able to shoot all the different teams shooting. We'll just have to make sure to snap pictures of each team once they return to the deck! Michael and his partner both won $50 gift certificates this year. There were several more teams shooting this year than before, too.

It was also fun to see family and all the kiddoes! Emma had a blast! It's always fun to get away for a few days - I just hate having to unpack once we get back home! Ha ha! Emma has started trying to stand on her own. Several times this weekend she let go of whatever she was holding while she was standing up and balanced on her own. Not for very long - the longest time was about ten seconds, but she is getting there!! Any day now she'll get it down good I'm sure, then comes the walking! Everyone says don't wish for that b/c we'll be chasing her all the time, but heck we're doing that now with her crawling! She may be just on her hands and knees now, but that doesn't mean she is slow! She is miles away in two seconds!! We can't take our eyes off her! Yesterday she was 9 months old already. Man, time is flying by too quickly!

I am anxious to go visit Miss Katelynn now, too. We couldn't go visit for a couple weeks after she got home b/c she wasn't supposed to be around other little ones for a while, but last night Michael asked his brother and they said it was fine to visit now. Hopefully we'll get to go see her either one day this week or this weekend when there is more time.

Well, there is a lot of work to get done this morning so I better get back to it! I hope you had a great holiday weekend, too!
