Sleep? What's that?
I am anxious to get some good pictures this weekend, too. I haven't got to use my new lens much, but I am hoping this weekend that will change - I need to check the weather, though. I hope it doesn't rain. All the babies will be up in East Texas this weekend so I hope to get lots of baby portraits. I want to get a lot of pictures of my Grannie this weekend, too. A few years ago I did some portraits for her that she used for Christmas presents - I think it's time for some more. I took a few b&w with film a few years ago, too and printed them in the darkroom at UofH - Elaine and I used to spend our Saturdays there. I really liked the way they turned out so I thought I would do some more this weekend.
Of course, if the rest of the nights this weekend are like tonight I won't be able to open my eyes to look through the lens to take any pictures. But now I am too awake and can't go back to sleep so I guess I'll just get to work and get our stuff packed so after Emma's doctor appointment I can rest before we hit the road.

Bark no more?
So...like I said here recently it was getting to be completely unbearable - especially at night. Maybe it is because they are jealous of Emma. I am trying more and more to get them around her. I take her outside and we sit on the swing together in the back yard so Ace and Oreo can come check her out.
Anyway...last week we bought this collar. At first I was skeptical b/c I thought they were too old to learn...and that first night Ace still barked a while. I think it just took him a while to realize the pain he was feeling was being caused by his own loud self! At night Ace reminded me of a smoke detector that had a low battery...it Arf (high pitched) - wait 5 seconds - Arf - wait 5 seconds - Arf...and on and on and on like this for what seemed like forever. So, after a while he actually quit barking...and since then it's been peaceful.
We take it off during the day while we're away at work...just in case. Ya know...don't want to be at work if the silly collar decides to go crazy and not turn off or something like that. Well, today I tried it on Oreo, too and it seems to be working just as well as it did with Ace. And great thing - Ace hasn't had it on all evening and yet I still haven't heard him back once! Maybe after they each take turns wearing it a while they won't have to wear it at all later! I can't believe how well it's working - not to jinx it now!

Rescheduled
It was delayed b/c of a train derailment, but then it got back on schedule to be delivered tonight...but I guess since they couldn't make it here by 9:00 they pushed it back another day. It left the delivery point here in Houston at 3:15 today, but still couldn't get here in time to make tonight's delivery schedule.
What's one more day? How irritating, though!

Is it only 11:18?
I think now she may finally really be down for the night, though. This is the longest she's stayed in bed tonight. One thing I've learned being a mommy - patience. I have more patience than ever when it comes to Emma and that is something I never would have thought possible! Me patient? I am my father's daughter after all and patience isn't a gene he passed on!!! LOL!! :D But with Emma it just came - but having patience doesn't mean that I don't get sleepy - and that's what I am right now.
So...I'm going to be presumptuous and think she is asleep for the night and take my own self to bed!!!

New Mommy Tips: Diaper Bags
While shopping for maternity clothes I found a bad similar to this one for like $50+ dollars; I didn't want to spend that much on a bag just for its looks so I never bought it. I had seen this bag in a catalog I get and ordered it just b/c I liked the bag a long time ago. After I got, though I realized it was perfect to use as a diaper bag - so needless to say it became my everyday diaper bag! It has one large compartment in the center with several little side pockets inside and out and a long adjustable shoulder strap. It came with a cell phone case, too that I use off and on. I really like this bag for every day use b/c it's practical, it was very inexpensive, and I think it's really pretty (I have the red one). **it seems the link won't work b/c my bag isn't available through ABC anymore...which sux, b/c I thought about buying another one in a different color just b/c I really like mine**
I also have another bag which came off my registry - my sister bought this one for me and filled it with goodies. This bag is great for quick trips b/c it's very small and light. I load it up with the essentials and my wallet and I'm out the door!!! The third bag I have is the biggest - it's more for overnight trips. It's pretty in pink and from Jeep - it also matches the new umbrella stoller we bought, but that's another new mommy post!!! This might actually be my favorite bag, even though it's the biggest b/c everything is so accessible and easy to find!!
Another good tip about diaper bags - however many you have, keep them packed at all times! I keep diapers, wipes, powder, hand sanitizer, a blanket (usually just a thin receiving blanket), and maybe a onsie in all my bags at all times - having the essentials already there it's easy to switch between bags. One less thing to slow you down when you're trying to get out of the door. I also have little organizers to use for diapers - my favorite is this one b/c it has a changing mat that folds up inside with the diapers! I keep it with one diaper bag and keep this one (I have the green and pink polka dot one) in another bag - I got this one as a shower gift and love it, too!! These hold about 2 or 3 diapers each and a wipee container. Of course, these can also both just be carried alone without a diaper bag, though!!! I bought and took back several bags, b/c many LOOK great, but just are not functional! So...keep the receipt and the tags b/c you just have to try them out to know if you're going to like 'em!!
Photos Delivered in 4 minutes
Michael and I spent Saturday at the rodeo - we had a blast! It was really great b/c we haven't really taken time for just the two of us in a long time & I really missed that! We won Emma several stuffed animals playing carnival games and took fun pics in a photo booth (these are up in my office now...), watched the rodea, ate food that was bad for us, and saw Clay Walker in concert! We even saw grown men fight over cheap beach balls (during one song in his concerts they always throw a bunch of beach balls in the audience to bounce around)!!! All around it was a really great day...and beautiful weather so I got a lot of good pictures.
All of my rodeo pics are at Fotki, but I also made a set of a few of my favorites at Flickr (I may add more to this set later...)!!

My new view...
I got moved to my new office today and this is a partial view from my desk! There are two windows in my office and they overlook the water and the suspension bridge to one side and the mall is to the left of this view. Not a bad view at all - and I am not at risk of morning or evening sun either! I got most everything set up this afternoon before leaving and I'll do the rest on Monday since I'm off tomorrow.
