My Happy Girl

This is how Emma started her day...but unfortunately it didn't end that way. My poor baby had colic this evening. She was fussy from about five on - she is just now relaxed and sleeping comfortably, hopefully for the night.

I took this picture (and many others like it) this morning. She was in such a good mood and smiling and talking (coo's and goo goo ga ga's). She is ready to laugh any day - she starts smiling and her whole face lights up. I love it!! In the mornings after she eats we lay down in the bed together and she just talks up a storm!!! I've taken a few videos trying to capture her in full conversation, but haven't got a really great one to share yet.

She is outgrowing more and more outfits so fast - I can't believe it. In only two more weeks she'll be ten weeks and I'll be going back to the office. I am really having a hard time dealing with that reality. It's going to be a very hard week for me. Even now just writing about it my eyes are welling up. I never imagined it would be so hard.

So...now we're having fun every day. She changes every day!!! We go back February 5th for her two month check up. I can't believe she's about to be two months old already! Time has really flown by.

My Sweet Pea

Look at those big beautiful eyes!!! She is holding her head up so much now and I swear we have conversations now - she makes so many new noises!!! She stays up a lot more these days and sleeps longer at night - thankfully.
She was seven weeks last Sunday. I can't believe how much she has grown. She'll go for her next check up at two months so I'll find out just how much she weighs, but I know she is well over ten pounds. She's a healthy baby!!

Emma is going to have a little cousin!! Steven & Jamie called us last night to share the good news - they are six weeks pregnant & due September 18th!!

Productive Day

I have had so many projects I've wanted to get done while on maternity leave. I've got a few of them done, but there were still a couple lingering. Most importantly my pantry! It needed reorganizing so badly. It was a mess and not being used efficiently. So, today that's what I tackled. I started just cleaning up the kitchen and ended up on the floor organizing all my tupperware then moved to the pantry and that's what I've been doing most of the day today.

After I got the kitchen all cleaned it was Emma's turn...so she got bathed and fed and is now sleeping sweetly! I still need to finish my bedroom - I washed the sheets on our bed, but haven't got them back on the bed yet. After that is done I am finished with the house for today and will be able to get myself cleaned up provided Emma doesn't wake up about that time. I get a little nervous showering while it's just the two of us here - scared I won't hear her - so most of the time I just wait until Michael gets home or jump in and out of the shower quickly right after I put her down for a nap. I may wait on Michael today, though since he'll be home in a couple hours.

I am just so glad to get my kitchen back in order - it had been in disarray for too long. The next big project is the closet in the guest room. It's just acting as storage, but it isn't organized at all. Mostly it's full of blankets and boxes of things that are either for garage sale or just things I don't have out right now. I have so much stuff I have to recycle it from time to time b/c there is just too much. I need to get a more organized storage system, though. I need to get the garage sale/giveaway stuffy out of there entirely, though. I just don't have another place to put it.

Well...time to get the bedroom finished before Emma wakes up again!!

Ice Day

Well, we don't have snow days here in Houston, but we do have ice days. Schools are closed all over town today and Michael's boss called him this morning and said they weren't going to work until noon today. I hope they just tell them to take the whole day off, though b/c it will be just as bad this evening on the way home as it is this morning. There are wrecks all over town according to the news...there was a 25 car pile up on the south side of town!!!! People just aren't slowing down they are saying on the news.

We're nice and cozy inside right now and I even have a fire going! My neighbor, who is a teacher, is staying home today, too due to school closings and my other neighbor is on maternity leave like me so maybe we'll have to have everyone over to make smores! :)

I went outside to see how much ice there was earlier and my jeep has icicles all over it...and all the leaves are solid ice, too. According to the news this is supposed to be going on tomorrow, too. I don't know if it will be any better or worse, though.

I hope you can stay home today, but if you're here in Houston and have to go to work be very careful.

UPDATE: Thankfully Michael's work called and said they didn't have to come in at all today!! He was just getting ready to go, too so they called just in time and now he can stay here with us where it's nice and cozy and warm!

Blackmail Video

I read an article that suggested recording Emma crying...of course, when she is crying my camera is the last thing on my mind. It kills me to hear her crying, but I have learned her different cries. She has one when she is hurting (and that one breaks my heart) and she has one when she is tired and fighting sleep. That one can be almost comical. She lets out a very animated "Waah, Waah" like it's scripted or something! I still don't really like to hear that one either, but after coming to terms with the fact that she isn't in pain I was able to grab my camera while she was crying last night.

I recorded a short video last night - she was fighting sleep so hard!! She didn't have a good nap during the day so she was pretty cranky. This is one that will be good to have handy when she starts dating! Our parents had naked pictures of us or shots of us on the potty - today we have videos on the web!!! Ha ha!

Sam Moon Trading

I had my first Sam Moon experience yesterday. A new one has opened up in The Woodlands & I have been wanting to go for a while. I think the next closest one is up in Dallas. All the stores aren't open yet, but the biggest one is and it was awesome. I could have stayed in there forever!! Michael was so patient while I shopped for a purse, too!! They have a Home Decor store open, too and we shopped in there for a while to find some new things for the house. I am sure we'll be going back! I wish we had checked it out while we were doing our Christmas shopping! I could have got everything done in one trip! There are only about four stores open in the strip right now - Anne Klein and Nine West are scheduled to open this spring and hopefully the rest will be open shortly afterwards! I'll definitely be going back, though!

I created it b/c I have so many friends with them and I wanted to be able to keep up with them. Tonight Michael and I went to dinner with Ashley & Ricky (friends I've known since HS) and we started talking about other people we knew from HS. Turns out a lot of them also have MySpace sites. So, tonight after we got home I decided to check them out...um yeah, maybe if I have hours to wait for MySpace to load. I like looking up HS friends on MySpace, but it takes so friggin long to load the pages. I don't know if it's just b/c people have so much stuff on their pages or what, but I get so frustrated I just give up trying. My site is very plain. I have one picture - a mosaic of pictures of Emma and that's it. Michael has tons of stuff on his site, too - too many pictures!

Oh well, just wanted to vent out MySpace. When I have more time and patience I'll have to search through it again for more friends from HS, but tonight we're watching the Rockets. Well, Michael is actually dancing with Emma right now!! I need to make a video of the two of them and post it...it's too cute!

Today is Michael's 30th Birthday!!! We're going out to dinner tonight to celebrate. I am married to an old man now! Ha ha! Better be careful about the old age jokes, though since I'll be 30 this year, too!

Happy New Year

I hope everyone had a happy and safe new year! Michael and I didn't make it until midnight, but we had a great time. We were in East Texas for New Year's - it was Emma's first road trip! She did very well, too.

So...we're home again and it's time to get back to our routine!
