One more day...

and I'll be back in my own office!!! It couldn't be any sooner. I am so ready to get back downstairs to my office with windows and most importantly a door! Our training starts next week so everything has to be finished today and tomorrow - we're there finally!

Mother is doing alright. She had a rough weekend - running a fever for most of it - but seems to be doing a lot better. They are starting to give her fluids daily now when she goes in for her treatments as well as nausea meds intravenously. They didn't do this last week, but did the week prior and she was 100% better when she received it. I don't know why they decided last week she didn't need it. She just can't eat anything really so she gets dehydrated and doesn't have any strength or energy otherwise. Hopefully they'll continue this now until the end of her treatments, which after Friday is only two weeks!

My first trimester is almost over...

I am going into week 11 now & have my 2nd appointment with my doctor next week. It seemed to drag while I was so sick, but now looking back it seems to have flown by! I am still in my regular clothes of course, but they aren't quite as comfortable as they used to be. This seems like an awkward stage b/c I don't really look pregnant - I just look like I am gaining weight. :(

I'm not nearly as sick as I was in the beginning and though I am still pretty tired it's nothing like it was before. I am getting more of an appetite these days, too, but thank goodness I'm mostly just wanting fruit. Lots and lots of fruit. I still can't eat meat or eggs either. I guess that's a healthy appetite at least!

Baby Development

Your baby weighs about 7 grams, is about 2 inches long, and in an ultrasound will look a bit out of proportion. He or she has toes, eyes, ears, fingernails and lips, but the head is still about one-half the total size of its body. Don't worry; this will change as your baby grows.

Here's the longer description of what's going on: (from

How your baby's growing: Your baby is no longer an embryo! Though she's barely the size of a kumquat — just an inch or so long, crown to bottom — and weighs less than a quarter of an ounce, she now has completed the most critical portion of her development. This is the beginning of the so-called fetal period, a time when the tissues and organs in her body rapidly grow and mature. Her vital organs — the liver, kidney, intestines, brain, and lungs — are now in place and starting to function (although they'll continue to develop throughout your pregnancy). Her liver continues to make blood cells, and the yolk sac, which previously supplied these cells, is no longer needed and begins to disappear.

During the next three weeks, your baby's length will more than double to nearly 3 inches. Her head is proportionately smaller now than it was a few weeks ago, but it's still almost half the length of her entire body. Her forehead temporarily bulges with her developing brain and sits high on her head; it will later recede to give her a more human appearance. Each day, more minute details — including tiny fingernails, toenails, and peach-fuzz hair — start to appear on her body. Her fingers are now completely separated; her arms bend at the elbow and curve slightly; her hands are flexed at the wrist and meet over her heart; her legs are lengthening; and her feet may be long enough to meet in front of her body. She is busily swallowing amniotic fluid and kicking her legs.

If you could take a peek at your baby this week, you'd be able to clearly see the outline of her spine through her parchment-thin skin. Spinal nerves are beginning to stretch out from her spinal cord.

WooHoo! We have archives!

Thank you Sherry!!!!

Holiday Weekend

Today should have been my Friday off so I would have had a four day weekend since Monday is a holiday, but today wasn't bad actually.

Tonight Michael and I are going to see X-Men 3, then tomorrow he has to work early, but afterwards we're going to his cousin's graduation & graduation party. Depending on how late he works we may just make it to the party, though. Afterwards we're going to drive up to East Texas for the rest of the holiday weekend to see my Grannie & family up there and just get out and relax! I can't wait! Grannie doesn't know we're coming & I want to surprise her, but I think I am going to give her a call about five minutes before we arrive just so I don't scare her to death knocking on the door late at night!!

I'm actually getting out of here in about five minutes, too so have a great holiday weekend!!!

You knew "No more surprises" meant there was one more...

Prince just finished singing!!! Okay, I have to say I have really liked
the season finale of American Idol - even the corny parts & even
w/out Chris in the top two! And I love Prince - I admit it - I always

So...we've got about ten more minutes to know the results! I am really
loving Taylor tonight, too. He is sounding so great! Katherine actually
sounds really good (Time of my Life), but they shouldn't have put her
in that dress. She's having too much fun with that long train! LOL!

Okay...Ryan's finally here with the results...

The winner is TAYLOR HICKS!!!!!!!!!

Does it make you dizzy?? **Evil Grin**

The background, of course! I figure until I have the time to play around w/ skins in DNN & get my site looking like I had it before then I'll have some fun w/ some wild backgrounds! I figured this one will wake people up, too.

Lazy weekend...

but those are the best kind! Friday and Saturday were very low key for me. I spent Friday home and Saturday at my mother's house. Michael was with his brothers - Friday night they planned to go to a concert, but it was sold out and Saturday they spent the day at the water fishing and crabbing. Sunday after church Michael and I went to see Ice Age 2, it was pretty good. Michael also got the yard mowed & I got the floors cleaned - we watched the playoffs & then after dinner watched the season finale of Desperate Housewives. It was pretty good, too - everything this weekend was just pretty good. Neither of us were feeling too great this weekend. Michael actually came home sick on Friday and probably should have rested more this weekend, but he took some medicine and felt better even though he really wasn't well. This morning he said he wasn't feeling good again and it's no doubt since he didn't rest at all this weekend. Next weekend is already full, but at least we have an extra day off on Monday for Memorial Day.

Mother was feeling pretty good on Saturday. She was more tired than anything, but my aunt and uncle came to see her for the weekend and that helped lift her spirits, too. It was nice to get to visit with them on Saturday as well. I was pretty tired myself Saturday so mother and I napped together for a while on the couch!!! She is starting week three of the treatments today. I don't know if they are still going to have to give her fluids today or not, but I really hope so b/c the fluids and the nausea med drip are really helping her feel better durnig the treatments. She'll be half-way through after this week!! I know she is so anxious for this to be all over!

And then there were two...

Elliott is going home by .20% of the, that's close. So, I guess now at least Katherine & Taylor can relax that they will both get record deals. I can't make up my mind who will win. Katherine wants so badly to be this diva, but that just isn't when she shines. When she sings ballads & more soulful songs she is wonderful. Otherwise she just looks like she is trying too hard. Taylor is great when he sings more bluesy songs, but when he starts getting spastic and hops around the place he makes me nervous. The last song he sang (Try a Little Tenderness - I think that was the name) was GREAT, but in the end he just looked like he was having a seizure!! So, who knows now. My choice was gone last week anyway, so I really don't have much vested in either finalist.

Two More Weeks & Brio...

Those two thoughts are going to help me get through the day!!

We're having lunch catered to the project team from Brio today and there are only 12 more days before we start training and all this "prep" work will be done. Unfortunately, the tables for lunch w/ all the food are being set up a mere five feet behind me today and while I am sure the food is going to be tasty, the smell is nauseating - I'm pregnant, alright. Most things are nauseating! All I can smell are eggs - which I usually love, but haven't been able to eat since I got knocked up!! :) Oh, the smell just changed - now I smell marinara. Okay, that's a little more desireable! yuck.gif

Things aren't necessarily going to get any easier after the end of the month, most probably they are going to get harder. Then after we go live on SAP (July 1st) they are just going to get worse I am sure for a while at least! Do any of you work on or have experience w/ SAP? I used it ever so briefly (about three months) right out of college, but that was over six years ago so I can't really recall much...and the company I worked for had been well established on the system - they hadn't just converted as we are trying to do now.

Well, lunch is now it's time to eat!!!

**Yawn** Will I ever be awake again???

If I'm not nauseous then I'm sleepy...extremely sleepy. I remember my sister talking about how sleepy she was when she was pregnant, but OH MY GOSH! I guess it's good that I am not working in my office right now b/c if I was somewhere people couldn't see me I might end up with my head on my desk asleep! I thought my pre-natal vitamins would help me out with the fatigue, but they don't really. I hope after the first trimester it gets better...that's what I've been told & read anyway. I finally brought snacks to the office today, too. I've been finding myself needing something in the middle of the afternoon and not having anything but juice...I can only drink so much juice.

Baby Development

Your baby is about one inch from crown to rump - or roughly the size of a strawberry. Weighing in at one gram, your baby is very active, although you can't feel its movements yet. He or she now has all the major organs, muscles, and nerves; and a Doppler may be able to identify the heartbeat. While his or her testes or ovaries are formed, the external genitalia still appear sexless, which is why it is too early for an ultrasound to reveal its gender. Eyelids are beginning to form and the trunk is straightening and elongating, cartilage and bones are forming, the basic structures of the eyes are in place, and the tongue is beginning to develop. The fingers and thumb are visible, albeit short and webbed.

Dinner & Grey's Anatomy

I've got my neighbor hooked on Grey's Anatomy...and she got her husband hooked on it! Since the season finale was last night she and I decided to watch it together - that turned into dessert and TV and that turned into dinner, dessert, and TV! So, last night Michael and I went over to their house for dinner & tonight we're cooking for them. Since Michael doesn't really like dramas he left when Grey's Anatomy started!!!

As far as GA goes...well, I have to say some things were expected, though I hate the way they happened. I actually do want Meredith & Derrick together, BUT I don't like the cheating part & I don't want Finn to get hurt, but you know that is going to happen. The last 1/2 hour of the show was really sad needless to say...

I am really tired this I am most mornings these days actually, but today was hard b/c I was sick again this morning. It's got some better, but I still don't feel too well and being up here on this team in cubicles and not in the privacy of my office doesn't make it any better. I was actually excited to join this team in the beginning now I just can't wait for it to all be over so I can go back to my regular job. I think it's mostly the atmosphere & the negative feelings about how everything is being run that really drags me down. I am so thankful I only have to be up here until the end of the month - at that point my team will be disbanded & I'll actually be doing the training and the work. Maybe then things will go back to normal - well, a little bit normal - AND I'll have my Fridays back. That's something I am really looking forward to. If nothing else, just to be able to sleep in one extra day.

Happy Mother's Day!!!

I didn't post anything for Mother's Day yesterday so it's a belated Mother's Day wish! We went to see my mother yesterday morning. We were going to meet her and daddy at church, but unfortunately she didn't have a good day yesterday. We took some morning glories to plant and bought a trelis for them to grow on, but ended up spending about an hour doing yard work for her. She really appreciated that since she hasn't been able to be out in the yard since all this started. It's been killing her b/c she works so hard to keep her yard looking good. Afterwards we went to Michael's parents' house. The guys played dominoes and they grilled burgers and chicken - I'm still not able to eat meat really so I had a baked potatoe - that's actually almost a staple for me now!!!

We had a good time visiting family all day and then came home to watch my shows, relax, and get ready for another work week to start. One more month and hopefully all the sickness for mother and me will be gone. I'll be out of my first trimester and she'll be finished with the chemo and radiation!

Now that you know that I am pregnant

I am sure you want to know what's going on with the baby!

babyYou' baby's fluttering heart would show up on an ultrasound performed this week (it was 171 beats per minute). He or She is between 0.56 and 0.8 inches from crown to rump - or about the size of a grape (my doctor said the baby was 1/2 inch long) - it's liver is churning out large amounts of red blood cells and will continue to until the bone amrrow forms and takes over this function. Week eight marks the beginning of a very busy developmental stage: its face continues to change as the easrs, eyes, and the tip of the nose appear; the intestines start to form in the umbililcal cord, and your baby's teeth begin to develop under the gums.

I promise I won't post these weekly, but since you saw the ultrasound now you can know what all is going on in there, too! I get an email every week from telling me what is going on & showing pictures from other ultrasounds. It's pretty informative & interesting, especially since I have never gone through any of this myself before!

I told you something big was coming to MishMish.Org

Well, it isn't that big right now, though!

I have never kept up with a full seaon of American Idol. This is the first time and I knew, I mean I KNEW that Chris was going to win it all. I can't believe he wasn't at least in the final two. Unbelievable. I mean my jaw dropped when I heard Ryan say, "Chris, you're going home..." I think he was shocked as well - you could see it on his face.

So, who do I want think is going to win it now - Taylor Hicks. I think he is the next favorite. I don't know if he's been in the bottom two yet, either. I know that Elliot and Katherine have, though.

Oh well - I am sure we'll hear from Chris again sometime in the future and if so I'll be buying his CDs!

Can you say busy?

That's an understatement for the way things are going this week. I am going to be out of my office all day tomorrow and Thursday b/c we're having a "Train the Trainer" workshop. Basically it's giving up tips for teaching our classes for SAP. I have two courses that I am teaching so I had to break down one (from 65+ slides to 10) for a "practice" presentation for tomorrow. They just want to make sure we all know how to use Power Point and how to switch back and forth between the presentation & another application, which will be SAP actually. I think most everyone will not have problems, though I haven't used a remote for my presentations before - that will be something new for me. Otherwise, we're just going to be sitting there listening to everyone's abreviated courses for a day and a half! The guy heading up the course is in IT and holds classes all the time - he teaches classes on everything - Outlook, Excel, Access, Word...all kinds of applications and I hear he's very good and makes the classes interesting so we'll see.

Also, school is done! I emailed one final in this morning and dropped off the scantron for another during lunch today. Yay! Summer school is June 1st. Not a big break, but still a break!

Mother started her chemo yesterday, too. She was so nervous & sick before going, but she called me afterwards and sounded great. She is there now for day 2 and isn't doing too well, though. She's been sick most of the morning and was very sick while they were on their way to the hospital. I am so thankful she only has one week at a time of the chemo, then a four week break before the next round. The radiation is going to be everyday for the duration, but I don't know if she'll be as sick from that as from the chemo. I just hope these next six weeks go by very fast.

It's been a lazy day

Well, the rain has cancelled our plans once again...we should be snug
in our tents right now, but it would be on the mud if we had gone b/c
of all the rain and thunderstorms. What can you do? Three weekends in a
row now our plans have been cancelled b/c of the rain. Next weekend is
when our deep sea fishing trip was rescheduled. I am keeping my fingers
crossed that it doesn't get cancelled again. This is getting a little
Michael decided to go on into work this morning since we didn't go so I
hung around the house all morning and worked on one of my finals and
then worked on redoing our wedding site. I have one final done already
and will have to drop it off on campus on Monday. The other is due by
Wednesday - I am about half way through the last question.
When Michael got home we laid down and ended up sleeping for about four
hours!! I usually don't feel better after naps, but today it helped -
especially since I had been awake since about 5:30!! I started getting
cabin fever, though b/c I hadn't left all day. So, I took a small walk
and then later Michael and I left to go get ice cream. Otherwise, I
haven't left the house all day & spent most of it in my pjs!

Bottle Brush

I love this picture...I took this in my mother's garden. I love the progression of the blooming!

Tuesday, May 02, 2006

Sigh...I'm so sleepy today.

I didn't sleep very well last night and haven't really been able to concentrate much today either. I thought I would just post a pretty picture that I took a couple weeks ago to brighten my mood.

Even more good news!

Mother went to the hospital again yesterday. She was meeting with the group that is going to do her radiation & chemo to find out the details of the next six weeks. The good news is that it turns out she only has to have chemo the first and last weeks of the six weeks!! She still has to have the radiation every week, though...but it's wonderful she only has to have two weeks of the chemo!!!

Thanks for all the prayers & thoughts from everyone - we just keep getting good news!!!

Weekend's come to an end...

Michael and I had a good weekend...though
we didn't get to go deep sea fishing on Saturday as planned. It's been
moved to the weekend of the 13th instead. The weather was just too bad.
The rest of the weekend ended up being beautiful, though. Since we
didn't go fishing Michael went to work and I spent the day at my
parents' house. That afternoon when I came home I found Michael working
outside so I took the opportunity to take a few pictures. Since my Grannie was visiting I had to show her what Michael grew in our garden:

That evening Steven and Jamie came over to go out for dinner and a movie w/ us. We didn't make the movie, but we came home and watched something we had.

We didn't do much this morning. I wasn't feeling well at all so I ended
up on the couch most of the day. By the afternoon I started feeling a
little better, which was good b/c Michael had been asked to play
softball w/ our neighbors. We just got back from going out to the ball
park with them and then to grab something to eat.

Tonight I am going to finish some homework I have been working on then
watch Grey's Anatomy!!! Sounds like a perfect ending for today!
