I'm watching American Idol

and I just have to say that Kelly Pickler is too cute! "I ate squid...and they call that cal-a-mareee" - okay she sounds more country than I ever could!!!!

I think Paris it cute, too and I love her voice!!

I really can't decide whose voice I like the best, but I know these two girls are two of the cutest and even if they aren't the best singers (which they could be) I don't think they are going anywhere anytime soon.

I've been slacking too much...

I've really been being careful about watching what I eat, but I haven't been in the gym nearly enough. Today during lunch I got in a good workout on the stair master and I have to say that I really feel so much better. My coworker and I are planning on a Monday/Wednesday/Thursday lunch workout - we're going to do our best to keep one another motivated & on track!!!

I'm sick and busy...

so I'm sorry for the lack of posting around here. Work has been so very hectic and I keep trying to get a cold. I worked out during lunch today so maybe that will help me feel more energized - lately I've just been dragging.

Between work-work, homework, social activities, and HOME work (laundry, cleaning, etc...) I haven't had much time to keep up with my reads either. Yesterday I tried to go through as many as I could and catch up...so for now I'm being a blurker, something else I also hope to remedy!

Tomorrow night we have a walk in class so Michael and I are going to seeTrisha Yearwood instead...then Thursday night we're going to have dinner out for mother's birthday and then Friday we're heading up to East Texas where I plan to relax (and do some studying & homework). Sunday when we come back we're also going to see Clay Walker with our friends. So things are still going to be busy, but what can you do? I'm looking forward to everything on our calendar!!!

I got lunch from downstairs and brought it back up, but I'm really not liking it. I think I am going to grab some soup from my stash instead and dump what I got from the cafeteria.

I've always called them mosquito hawks,

but actually they are called Crane Flies and they don't even eat mosquitoes as I used to think. Actually, dragon flies (which are also called mosquito hawks) do eat mosquitoes, though.

Anyway...I don't care if they eat mosqutioes or not - I cannot stand Crane Flies and have seen two in our house this week. They are as creepy to me as spiders - maybe even more b/c they are as bad as spiders, but fly as well. I battled with one in the bathroom Friday morning - I even got my hairspray after him - I think all I did was freeze him, though b/c when I left he was motionless on top of the garbage and when I came home he was gone! Today, though I found him lying dead next to another one on the floor. I read they die shortly after mating so maybe they got some and then croaked! Either way, they are gone thank goodness. THEN this morning I had some errands to run and when I opened up the back of the jeep I saw one fly in from the rain into the jeep. I looked everywhere inside the jeep for it and couldn't find it. I HOPE it actually flew out b/c if it pops it's ugly self up while I'm driving I might just have a wreck!

Mother has to go back to the hospital...

back in September I wrote about what's been going on with her. Well, it's still going on & even though we were told there was no mass in her pancreas, actually there is. She is going to have to have surgery again to remove the biggest percentage of her pancreas. I know she is scared, but I know she's ready to start feeling better, too and this surgery is supposed to do that. The surgery is scheduled for March 23rd, though I don't know the time just yet. I haven't been happy with this surgeon, or maybe his staff, b/c they left her hanging for about a week with no news even though she and daddy both have been calling the office almost daily to find something out. How do you just tell someone they have to have surgery and then ignore their pleas for more information?

So, keep mother in your prayers. I am glad something is being done for her, though surgery is never something pleasant. She said they told her she would be in the hospital for about five days. I am anxious to get this behind her so that she can start feeling better!!!

This should be interesting...

I found this at Nina's site and thought it would be interesting to see what everyone thought! So...go over and select a few adjectives for me!

Happy Birthday...

Today is Jamie's 25th Birthday! Happy Birthday Jamie - I hope you have a WONDERFUL day!!!

It starts today...

today is Go Texan Day. The trails rides are starting and everyone here is wearing their jeans and boots and serving BBQ! Although, I'm having sushi today, not BBQ - I'll get my fill of BBQ this weekend at the cook-off. I am wearing my jeans & boots today, though. I like being able to wear my jeans to work - it's comfortable!

So...I am also foreseeing a comfortable day as well. These last few weeks have been pretty stressful - tons of meetings about work and sticky personnel issues & then yesterday a new one emerged that I had to deal with as well. I hope that's all just about to die down, though & we can all continue to concentrate on all the work. But for today...I'm not going to be stressed! I am going to have a relaxing, but very productive day in the office today. I have so much work I had better be productive or it's just going to throw next week back into chaos!!!!!

It's that time of year again here in Houston...

Rodeo time! We're going three times this year...to see Clay Walker and John Fogerty. We also have tickets to see Pat Green, but I think I am going to give my ticket up to Michael's brother so they can have a guys' night - his other brother and cousin will be with them, too. This weekend is going to be busy, too - Friday is my sister-in-law's birthday, then on Saturday we're all going to be at the BBQ Cookoff, and on Sunday we're giving a wedding shower at my sister's house!

Sorry it's been so quiet around here. These last few weeks at work have been exhausting...I haven't even really been in my office too much b/c it seems there are meetings on my calendar each and every day...many of them in our other building so I have been going back and forth in this yucky weather, too! I think we're about to start seeing a light at the end of the tunnel, though...hopefully! I have a couple big projects I'm working on too that have been neglected b/c of all these meetings...so basically we're all able to sit and meet and discuss what needs to be done, but aren't able to get to those things to work on them b/c we're in meetings talking about them!!!! I think my calendar is pretty clear for now, though so hopefully I'll be able to catch up before the weekend gets here!

I have class tonight, but have to leave a little early. We have a couple of group projects for this class (MGT 566) and we're meeting for about an hour before class tonight. I am not looking forward to doing a group presentation. I don't mind them at all for work and have to present things to the engineers all the time actually, but that's over a topic I work with daily usually - I don't like having to pick a topic or be assigned a topic to present just to prove I can talk in front of an audience. I've been doing that since I was in elementary school. I guess I really shouldn't complain too much. I know there are some people who are terrified of doing it and this is going to be a lot worse for them than me. Group work was easier as an undergraduate - most students worked only part time and were on campus so much anyway it wasn't an inconvenience to plan meetings. When you're working full time and have a family & are really only on campus for your classes (which are night classes) finding the time to meet isn't nearly as easy. I'm lucky in that both my teammates do not work so it's just my work schedule that really gets in the way. I think we'll be able to do a lot of this project on our own, though. We'll see...

And b/c I like jumping on band-wagons...here's my latest Avatar...which actually looks like me today b/c that's what I'm wearing (though my purse is blue):

As you can tell I was at a concert last night.

My ears are still ringing!!!

Kevin Fowler was playing at a new place last night that is five minutes from the house - it was awesome to be five minutes from home!!! Especially for the drive home! Michael really wanted to go last night, but he's working OT right now and had to be at work at 5:00 this morning so there was no way he go - Kevin didn't even come on stage to 11:00PM last night and then played for two hours! So, Ashley & I made a girls' night of it and had a great time!

We were right in front of the stage and the speakers were stacked to the ceiling so it's no wonder I still can't hear! If we were talking right now you would probably think I was yelling at you!!!

Before we went to the concert our neighbors came buy and asked us to go to dinner with them last night - we went to a new place (new to us) and had catfish and shrimp. This place is pretty small, but apparently very well known for their food so even at 6:00 last night we had about a 30 minute wait! It was worth it, though - I haven't had catfish in a long time! We also brought home some blackberry cobbler that is wonderful!!! We'll definitely be going back!

Well, I have to get some studying done this morning and my parents are coming over in a little while - mother is going to help me finally get all my curtains up!! Michael will be home this afternoon so I want to get everything done so we can do something since he couldn't last night!

Another shot of my beautiful

(I need to take a picture tonight w/ my DSLR so I'll have a nicer picture than just these with my camera phone!)

Happy Valentine's Day <a

Happy Valentine's Day

This morning my honey called after he left for work & said he forgot something upstairs...I went up to find these beautiful roses, a card, a box of yummy valentine's cookies, and a gorgeous iron bench for our bathroom (I've been saying I wanted one for a long time)!!!

What to do... <a

What to do...

My sister gave me this cool box - I think some cologne or something came in it. Now I need to figure out what I am going to do with it. I though it would make a neat shadow box or something - or a fun, faux, aquarium maybe!

Here's the front view...

I am taking a test today...well, not right at this moment I'm not. I'm actually cooking dinner & thought I would post this. I haven't decided what to do with the box yet, but I thought it would make a fun project whatever I decide to do.

I have an Economics test due tomorrow. I have been working on it most of the day...take home tests seem so long b/c it is so easy to find your attention being drawn elsewhere. I figured dinner would be a good break and then back to work!!

I haven't had BerryHill Tamales since my days of working w/ Miss Elaine when we were officed in the Galleria area...there was one close by we used to go to & have margaritas! Now there is one near my office out here - we didn't have margaritas since we were at lunch - but the tamales were still just as yummy!

Travel Log

links found at Elaine's

How can a week be so productive & so non-productive at the same time?

I have been so busy this week, but feel like I haven't accomplished anything. Every day this week has been one meeting after another after another. We get so many things decided & delegated in the meetings, but then I haven't had time to do any of them b/c I haven't been back in my office. I'll bet I have been in our other building more this week than in my own! Plus school & homework on top of all that - I haven't had time to breathe! I really don't have time to be posting this, but I wanted to let it be known that I'm still here and alive & will post something real soon!

We had a very busy & productive weekend...

Friday I was off so I spent the day w/ mother. We visited with my sister & I got to play with my great-niece for a while then we she got to work on the curtains for my newly painted dining room. There is still one more panel to put up (which we're doing next weekend since the guys will be away at the deer lease) and then I'll finally take some pictures to post! She is also working on another curtain for our living room.

That evening we all went out to celebrate Christopher's 21st b'day! I think he had a good time & let me just say I'm not 24 anymore!! While I did have a wonderful time that night, I had quite a headache come Saturday morning. It took a little while to get moving, but once we did we didn't stop!! We hit Lowe's and bought some plants for the flower beds and some dirt and came home and got to work. We planted several new flowers (including a miniature rose bush) and even started the garden by planting some onions. I left Michael outside to mow and weed-eat & I headed inside to work on the house...laundry, floors, dusting, etc.

Sunday we went to church (to repent for Friday night) and afterwards did some shopping for the superbowl gathering we had that evening. We had a houseful and I think everyone had enough food and a good time!

I have class tonight, though I would really rather go home and catch up on my sleep...*yawn* & I am actually heading out of the office right after I post this!

Lucky Bamboo <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mishmish/96272502/"

Lucky Bamboo

Michael's aunt came over this weekend (we had a superbowl gathering) and brought us this bamboo as a housewarming gift - it was the first time she had been to our house! I decided to bring it to work w/ me!

*Yawn* I'm off today...

so why am I up so early? Because my hubby wanted me to move the truck so he could drive the car (we have three cars & a two car garage...so things get blocked). So, now I'm awake and won't be able to go back to sleep. I have to take my clothes to the cleaners today, return some things to the store, and take some curtains to my mother - she's doing some sewing for me. Then tonight we're all going out to celebrate Christopher's b'day. I didn't get to go to his birthday dinner b/c I had class, but we'll have fun tonight to make up for that!!!

So, I'm gonna jump in the shower and hopefully by the time I'm ready to leave the cleaners will be open! I'm going to a new one and really don't have a clue what time they open!

Mom sewing <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mishmish/95030528/"

Mom sewing

You can't beat tailor-made curtains...especially when the tailor is your mother!! I bought curtains for the dining room (after the painting was done) and they all needed to be a bit altered/personalized!!

There was some maintenance going on around here yesterday

Yesterday my brother-in-law, Christopher, turned 21 & my Daddy turned 62!

MishMish.Org is sick today...

but will be back up and running tomorrow! I guess I'm having withdrawals!!! It's one thing when you don't have the time to blog (which I really don't this week) and another when you don't have the time, but also don't have the choice b/c your blog is down!! LOL!

I have class tonight & I need to write up a couple of discussion questions about the reading material. I should have done it last night, but had so much going on I didn't get to it. It's a yucky day outside & is getting worse. I thought it was supposed to rain, but I haven't seen a drop yet. The gray doesn't help with my icky attitude either!
