Tomorrow is my last day at work...

I am off Friday, but have plenty to keep my occupied! Today during lunch I had a few last minute errands to run and have a lot of work to do here in the office so I am going to keep this short!

Last night Michael and I went with my parents to pay the final balance for the reception and to drop off some of our things for the reception. They already had it all fixed up for our reception. It looked so pretty! I can't wait to see it full of our friends and family this weekend! I hope know that everyone will have a great time!! It's going to be a lot of fun!

Okay...I have to get back to work!

It's THIS weekend! Wow!

It's hard to believe it's already here now! I have to be honest...I am getting a little nervous. Not that I have doubts, but this is a BIG step! Who wouldn't be a little nervous??

Tonight my parents are coming over and going with us to the reception hall to drop off some things and pay the final balance for the reception. Men's Warehouse called to say the tuxedos were in and we finished printing the programs and the placecards this week! The count as of today is 305!!! Holy Cow! I didn't know I knew that many people!! (Well, I guess I really don't know them all...ha ha)

Tomorrow and Thursday I have some more errands to run during lunch, then Friday I am off and still have an appointment at 11:00 - then that night we have rehearsal and then it's the big day! I know I haven't been keeping up with my posts...or my reads and for that I am sorry. My mind has just been occupied.

I may not be on the cutting edge of the latest in fashion designers,

but I don't think anyone will shudder when I say that I honestly don't believe that this is going to be showing up at Dillards this fall! Ummm, am I totally out of it to say that this is hideous and ridiculous? I never comment negatively on another person's piece of art...even if I don't like it, I can appreciate the artistic impression behind it - usually! But, when you create an outfit out of a bunch of big beach balls, do you really think you're going to see it being worn - at all!?!?! Where would anyone wear an outfit like this? Anyway...I am sorry to be a critic, but I couldn't let that one rest!!!

The entire style show can be seen here. Take a look for yourself and let me know if you would rush out for any of these, umm...fashions!? I do have to admit there are about one or two that are pretty cute, but for the most part, uh NO!

I made my first trek over to my old building today.

I still have my plants over in Karen's office. I didn't want to box them up to move and didn't want to tote them home, so I just moved them temporarily to her office for a while. I had to go over to the drilling department this morning so on my way back I stopped by and picked up one and she and I went down and got coffee, too! I still have two more over there and I think she is going to bring one over later so she'll get to see my new digs, too!

It was nice walking was cool and a little breezy. On the way back was a different story. It was starting to get mucky already and the sun was beating down on me! Sheesh, I think I'll keep my walks over to the tower to strictly early morning!

Tomorrow a group of the girls are taking me out to a belated birthday lunch! I think I want to go to Rockfish. I went there for the first time with Kenny and Elaine a couple weeks back and really liked it! I think Michael would like it, too. I need to get him to try it sometime. There is one down from the apartment a little ways that would be a good choice for dinner one night!

Well, I have been out of the office a while this morning so I had better get to work!

Only one more weekend to go!

We just have next weekend and then we're getting married!!!

This past weekend was our bachelor/bachelorette parties. I spent the day at mother's and then that night all the girls met me at my place and we headed downtown. We had a lot of fun!! We were only down there about three hours - apparently if you don't drink for a long, long time your tolerance goes way, way down!!!! As was the case for me. I haven't drank in forever really so it didn't really take much! We started off at Market Square Grille for food and fun gifts - then went down to main street! I heard a lot of "Don't do it!" being screamed by a few guys...of course there were a few that told me congratulations, too and a nice couple that have been married for 8 years bought me a drink and told me how happy they were for me! We saw one other bachelorette party going on and one bachelor party. That poor bachelor had to put on lipstick and take a picture with me and one of his buddies had to quote me something from Shakespeare (after his friend said he wouldn't do it)!

Needless to say I spent Sunday hanging out at the house with Michael! He was pretty tired, too. They had left around 3:00 am to head to Freeport to go deep sea fishing and were gone all day and all night long! I have to get through one more Monday - I have been unpacking in my new office all morning. I meant to bring up my camera today, but of course walked out without it. Tomorrow I'll try to remember!

Finalize selections for reception
Get final head count to reception
Take favors/decor/pictures etc. to reception

I think that's everything for now, but I am sure more will pop up!

OKay...sorry I have been MIA.

I have been MIA and I haven't been good. Especially not the past five days. I don't know what's wrong with me, but I have just lost all motivation. Hello!!! A wedding is motivation...yes, I know that! But it hasn't been enough - I have battled this since I was about 12 years old and have been losing for the past decade and a half! HELP!!! I need to find motivation!

17 days...and counting!

I asked Michael the other day if he was getting nervous...his answer, "Nah, there's nothing to be nervous about..." He did say that it didn't seem real yet, though when I told him we only had two weeks. Even after I told him that, yesterday on the way to his parents, he said, "This weekend is our [bachelor/bachelorette] parties and we don't have anything planned for the next weekend?"
"Then what's the weekend after that?"
"Ummm...our wedding!!!"

He couldn't believe that it was so close! To be honest I can't either! I can't wait!

This past weekend when we were in Broaddus I got at least two cards and one remark about finally getting married! They made me feel like an old spinster that someone finally took pity on and married! Ladies - I am only 26 (at the time I was 26, now I am 27)!!! You have to understand I came from a small town. No, you may think you came from a small town, but I REALLY came from a small town. I graduated with 25 people! And most of those people are still there and were either married before we graduated or immediately afterwards. I was the strange one b/c I remained single for a while. When I went off to college and would come home to visit - no one would ask how school was going, just if I had a boyfriend or not. Then when I graduated from college and started looking for a job here in Houston and would come home for a one would ask about the job search, just whether or not I was married. THEN after getting a good job no one would ask about that either!

So, my stock answer when someone would ask if I was married, "No, but I have a career and great friends and a social life and guys to go out with...would you like to hear about any of the other details of my life other than whether or not I am married?" I would get a moment of silence and then maybe a, "Good for you," or some muttering about doing it right like that's what they had in mind all along!

I should have answered, "Sure, my partner and I'll get married once they change the laws..." Ha Ha, I grew up in a Baptist town/church, that would have really got the gossip wheels turning!!!!

They really don't mean anything by it...they all got married in their teens, their children got married in their teens, and their grandchildren either got married in their teens or early, early twenties!!!

So, I guess I shouldn't get irritated by it...just realize that's all they know. Most of them have lived in Broaddus all their lives and that's just how it goes up there. Growing up I thought getting married young was the only time...but I am still young! When I lived there I thought I loved I love to go back and visit, but could never live there again. I'll always have family there and will always have a camp house or place to go there. Right now we have mom and dad's camp house, but later when Michael and I are ready maybe we'll get our own up there. Like Elaine said, it really is a beautiful place and very relaxing, too. It's a nice escape every once in a while from Houston!

I am packing up part of my office this afternoon.

We move this weekend...well, technically the movers move us this weekend, but I have to get everything packed by Friday so I thought I would try to get my personal stuff done. I haven't moved once since we have been in this building. This is my first one...everyone else (except the managers) have moved several times. Now, not only am I moving out of my office, I am moving out of our building and into another one of our buildings.

This floor is in complete disarray...there are boxes up and down the halls and the moving guys are in an out all day. My office is like a maze. There are boxes piled up to the door. Tomorrow I'll have to remember to bring my camera in.

I just finished about 85% of my personal stuff...I think I'll end of having about three personal boxes to be moved. Hey, after three years you accumulate a lot of stuff!! I think I am going to enjoy the new office. It'll be a nice change and supposedly the garage situation over there is a bit better, too!!!

And...we got an email from our CEO today that starting January 2005 wer're going to be implementing 9/80's! Meaning I'll work my 80 hours (yeah right!) in nine days and have every other Friday off! WooHoo! I just went to this 7-4 schedule, which I love...I guess it'll just be 7-5 instead. I can deal with that to have a three day weekend every other week! I'll be able to get so much stuff done on those days and I'll be able to go eat lunch with Michael, too! I am really looking forward to it. He (CEO) said he would never do that, but I guess he changed his mind since enough people spoke up. They also changed the minimun vacation to three weeks...which is what I already had starting this year. Now, those coming in will start with three weeks. Wish it was retroactive and I would get a week off for those years past!!!! Wouldn't that be sweet???

I think I'll finish getting all this other "stuff" out of here except what I am currently working on and then concentrate on finishing all that before the move so I won't be dealing with it over there!

First order of business

all Gmail invites are gone! Sorry, but I am sure they'll be passing out more soon!

We had a great weekend. Saturday was our last shower in East Texas at the church. It was very nice. My niece (a bridesmaid and cohostess) really got me good. She had tons of ingredients laid out on the bar and told me I had five minutes to put together a cake from scratch and get it in the oven...and that I couldn't use a recipe!! She also said that when it came out that Michael had to taste it!!!!! Oh my goodness, I didn't have a clue! I had a tiny bit of help from those there, but needless to say, it wasn't my finest dessert! It wasn't too bad, it was edible at least! Like sweet biscuits more than cake, though - Ha Ha!

Elaine came up for it and spent the night with us. Saturday night after showing her around town, she went with me and Michael to grab a burger in town, where Dennon met up with us and we went to the East Texas Jamboree. This has been in Broaddus for a few years, but I had never been. It really was a lot better than I had expected and apparently doing very well! There were of course plenty of opportunities to make fun, but I have to say I was impressed. They did a wonderful job and growing up listening to old country & gospel music I do have a fond appreciation for it!

After that Dennon headed home and Michael, Elaine, and I went home and watched a movie before deciding we were too sleepy to stay up any longer!

After we got back home yesterday Michael camped out in the living room for the first Sunday of football and I took Elaine home. Then Kenny joined up for some shopping and lunch before I headed back home!

When I got home Michael had my b'day present waiting on me!!!! Tonight we're going out to dinner. They have recently opened a new HB Japanese Steak/Sushi restaurant and I have been wanting to tonight's sushi & hibachi!!!

Phew...long weekends will definitely tire you out!

Sorry for the lack of post yesterday. I am so, so, so swamped over here! I mentioned a while back that my job changed a bit around here...well, to define change: I have a ton more work added to my days!!!!! So, I don't really have a whole lotta spare time and when I get home I don't really get on the computer much; more so now that football season is starting and Michael is always checking on his fantasy teams. He has them for all sports, but the only one that involves $$$ is football, and even with that one he has another that is free, too! But last night I got on there with him to check it out. He was "watching" a baseball game on the internet. It wasn't actual picture, but rather several windows that showed what was going on in the game. There was a diamond that showed who was where and there was a batter at the plate and it showed where different pitches came in, how fast they were, and whether they were strikes, hits, balls, etc. It was really pretty cool to watch! He watches more games that way now than on the TV, hee hee at least that way I can watch Law & Order (which I haven't had time to do in a long time!)...

So...yes, we had a great weekend! It was busy and I am still trying to recover!!! This weekend we're going up to East Texas for our last shower with my side of the family. Then it's only two more weekends until the wedding!!! It's awesome to start counting in weeks instead of months!

Well, like I said, I'm super busy around here so I had better get to it so I can make a dent in these stacks on my desk!!!!

I cannot believe that we're within a month now!

Eight months ago when Michael proposed I didn't think this day would ever get here and now it's just a few weeks away!!!!

Next weekend is our last shower in Broaddus. The weekend after that is the bachelor/bachelorette parties. The next weekend is a FREE weekend - that I am trying to keep open for anything last minute. Then the next weekend is the wedding!!! I can't believe it's so close!

Michael and I are both ready and anxious to get it over with! Weddings are a lot of planning and work! Thank goodness the place we're having our reception takes care of everything for us. I definitely recommend for all brides-to-be out there...don't try to handle the catering, DJ, entertainment, decorations, etc. for the reception on your own! Get a place that does it ALL for you! That's has been one of the greatest things. In the beginning I thought we were going to have to rent a place, hire a caterer, buy decorations, be up the night before to finish decorating ourselves, rent tables, chairs, plates, whoa - just talking about all that is stressing me out! We didn't do that Hanna, relax! Breathe!!!

Mother picked up my dress for me yesterday and it is now hanging up at her house...then we all went to the reception place to finalize our choices ~ menu, bar, colors, cake (they are even doing my cake for me)! It was nice to mark something else off our list! Now, really the only big thing we have to do is finish the programs (they're done - they just have to be printed) and put the favors together. I think we're going to try to do that after the shower in Broaddus when we're all together ~ I think that'll ago the fastest! Michael and I also have to get our license and figure out where we're staying after the wedding. We have to get up the next morning (early) and drive to New Orleans to catch the ship for our cruise so I want to stay somewhere that's on the way out of town. Any suggestions? And we do have one issue with a ring bearer's tuxedo...apparently they can make all other parts (shirts, ties, vests, pants) to fit a 2 1/2 year old, but not the jacket. So we have two choices - rent everything from them except the jacket and buy him a jacket somewhere else or buy a complete tux for him from somewhere else. So, that's another dilemma that we have to work through!

I am almost at that point where I can exhale!
