In the office after the layoffs...

The consulting firm that our company worked with during the layoffs recommended that the layoffs not be done on a Friday. Apparently, people have more of a feeling of hopelessness if they are laid off on a Friday b/c they have to wait through the weekend before they can do anything about it. I guess that makes sense, but people are probably going to need a couple days to adjust anyway, right? Personally, I did not want to come back into the office today b/c I was afraid the mood was going to be like it was yesterday. Very mournful, but in fact it seems to be business as usual. We are finding out today more of the people that we knew who were let go...and they are even falsehoods in that due to rumors that were started! Today I found out that one of the auditor was gone and I was very down about this b/c he was a great person to work with from that group. You know, when I was studying accounting I wanted to be an auditor. I love to do research - but I have found that most people don't like when you find one that is awesome to work with, it is hard to hear that they are no longer around...then about ten minutes later we get another phone call saying he is still here!!! Yay!! Happy for him and for me!!! I know that sounds selfish, but some people are just very, VERY, difficult to work with and this man is a great liaison for our group and auditing!

Subject Change:
Driving in this morning I was thinking about the last minute things I have to do for the baby shower tomorrow - and that led to thinking about what a procrastinator I am!!! I am...really I'm terrible. The sad thing is that I recognize this and don't do anything about it. I have become very good at working under pressure b/c of this, though. I have turned out some of my best work cramming it all into the last few days, hours, minutes!!!! I recognize this as being one of my biggest faults, for lack of a better word!!!! In high school mother would get onto about doing my homework and my retort would be, "Have you ever known me NOT to get something turned in???" And she does this even today...gets onto me about things I need to get done. All through HS and college, not once did I ever shirk an assignment...they always made it into the professor on time!!!! I may not have finished it until that morning in some cases, but it was done and more times than not received good marks! I was an A student through HS, with an occasional B here b/c I would rather spend more time on things other than homework - and in college I stayed in the B range, again b/c I didn't spend enough time on it (another fault I'll admit)!!!

Now at work I find that I am the same way. I have a lot of deadlines at the end of each month...and I have progressed a bit on getting them done earlier each month. I'll finish all reports, input vouchers that need to be in by a certain date/time days in advance, but I never actually transfer them until the day of. My reason for that is actually a valid one - just in case we have a last minute change I'll be able to delete the current voucher, make changes, and re-input the correct one. But it's still a procrastination!!!! I am getting better at doing more up front research and just taking my time in putting it all together. But hey, that's a step in the right direction, don't you think!?!?!?

Well, speaking of procrastinating, I need to get to work...

Friday Five

1. What time do you wake up on weekday mornings? Around six usually...

2. Do you sleep in on the weekends? How late? As late as I can...which is usually only about eight b/c we ALWAYS have something going on - this weekend it is a baby shower!

3. Aside from waking up, what is the first thing you do in the morning? Potty and brush my teeth!!

4. How long does it take to get ready for your day? Thirty minutes - but I usually spend up to an hour if I am going out!

5. When possible, what is your favorite place to go for breakfast? McDonald's has great hash browns, but a short stack at IHOP is still the best!!!

And then there were 3,400...

Well, it has started...or hopefully ended. My company can no longer distinguish itself from all the other big companies by saying it has never had a layoff, b/c today about 400 of our employees lost their jobs. Several right here in my department. It's sad b/c I know that the wife of one of my co-workers that lost his job is at freshman orientation this very moment with their daughter getting her ready for the fall semester. It's a relief, b/c now I don't have to wonder what is going to happen anymore - it has happened and I know that our division didn't get hit. If I ever had to get laid off, though, now would be the time...before I have a mortgage and kids that are depending on me financially (as well as emotionally). I should whisper that in case they are still looking for a few more to let go.

In about twenty minutes we're supposed to meet with the "higher ups" to be informed more formally about what all is going on. We met within our divisions earlier, but this will be our department as a whole. If it weren't for that I think I would have to sneak out of here...since about lunch time I have been fighting a terrible headache that doesn't seem to want to go away. I think it was brought on by the stress around here today. People are just moping all over the place. (It could just be another headache, though.) Then out of nowhere we hear the sounds of partying coming from an office down the hall - after a little investigating we find that another girl here in the office is pregnant!!!! See, the world doesn't come to a stop...

Well, our meeting is over now...and I think my position is safe for today. Tomorrow is another question, though, but I am not going to stress over for reasons already stated. I am going to come in tomorrow, do my eight, and then start my weekend. I'm pumped about seeing Don Williams and anxious about getting Saturday's Baby Shower over with and then relaxing Saturday night (if we don't have to go to Schulenberg) and all day Sunday.

So, I hope your day was a better one than we have had around here.

Hump Day

Okay...I think IT must have been doing something yesterday...I came in yesterday and my personal folders in outlook had been renamed and moved!!!! ACK!!! I was worried at first, but after I figured out what all happened, I just figured they had moved them, but at least they were still there. Well, I changed the name back to what I originally had it and went on with my business. Today, they are back in their rightful spot with the correct name!!! parents came over last night to have dinner with me and Michael. I cooked chicken fried steaks w/ gravy and rice and brocoli with cheese. Mother brought over some homemade rolls that someone at church had given her...they were delicious!!! Yeah, I had a carb-packed dinner!!! It sure was good, though!!! I balance it out...if I over-do it one day, then I am sure to be good for several days to follow! This keeps me from burning out. I haven't really lost any more weight, but I haven't gained any of it back either! I am ready to go for another two weeks straight in the induction phase again, though. That is kind of like a jump start and how I lost the first eleven pounds in the beginning!!! People around me on a daily basis didn't notice as much as people I haven't seen in a while, though! When I was in East Texas this weekend one of my girlfriends asked me, "So, tell me how you lost all that weight!!" I was gleeming needless to say - that made me feel really good and gave me a boost to get back on the induction phase for a couple of weeks!!!

Man, the clouds are really moving out there today!!! The sky is bright blue with huge puffy white clouds everywhere...but then off to the other side the clouds aren't white...they look like a white puppy that has been playing outside in the dirt!! At least it isn't pouring out, though. I know we need the rain when it's so hot, but seeing grey skies day after day and driving through the rain got so depressing after a while!!

I think today I am going to the scrapbooking store and pick up a few stickers during lunch...and then maybe to Target to pick up some things I need for the baby shower this weekend!

Well, gotta get some more work done first, though!!

Pictures as Promised

The pictures of the elk that I promised are now uploaded!! I think there are about ten! They were pretty far away so some of them are hard to make out, but you can see the size of their antlers anyway!

I have such a wonderful boyfriend! I was cooking dinner at his house last night and he called to say that he wasn't going to be there when I arrived...that he had to run to the store with his brother. So, when I arrive I find the first of several notes taped on the door that sent me on a scavenger hunt around the complex, ultimately leading me back to his apartment to find candles and roses and scrapbooking paraphenalia (I have recently started scrapbooking) laid out for me!!! I was so thrilled and it was really a lot of fun!! He was hiding in the apartment the entire time!! And all just to tell me how much he loved me...

So, today I have my roses sitting out on my desk to show-off and am telling anyone who asks what a wonderful boyfriend I have!!!

I love you Michael!

P.S. Afterwards I cooked a wonderful dinner btw...beef tips and rice that just melted in your mouth! He deserved a good dinner after all that planning!!!

Another weekend passed...

I am sure you've seen it all over today, but I am going to post it anyway. Bob Hope is dead at 100. I always loved to watch him...growing up he was one of dad's favorites and having only one television he ended up being one of my favorites, too!

We had a good weekend. Friday night we didn't leave Houston until late...I went home and got everything packed and expected Michael and his brother to be there no later than 6 or even 6:30 - waiting on them I nearly fell asleep! Around 7:30 I finally called and found they were at Randall's still getting things for the trip. I couldn't believe...I didn't believe it. I went outside to make sure they weren't sitting there laughing at me for falling for their joke!!! Not only were they serious, but b/c they hadn't got everything ready, they asked me to run to Wal-Mart to pick up some worms for fishing...this also took a bit of convincing to believe!!!!! But I left and bought the worms and made it back to my house before them! So, what time did we really get out of Houston???? Oh, around 8:45!!!!! Ugh! Boys!!!!

So, we finally get on the road, stopping once to get something to eat and fill up for gas - we made it to East Texas a little after 11:00 and went straight to the lake where we fished until around 2:00 am! I didn't fish long b/c I was so tired and kept getting hung up in all the rocks. So, I sat and played with the dog and even fell asleep sitting there at one point!!! The next morning we went out to my sister's house for a while and fished at her pond. Then headed back to my grannie's for lunch when mother made it to town. After that the boys were on their own b/c I had to get ready for the baby shower! The Shower was a success and she got a lot of great things! We made it back to my grannie's around 5:30 after stopping over at my aunt and uncle's for a while. Michael and his brother had just arrived as well. They had been back down to the lake and apparently had caught a lot of fish, though, they threw them all back. Michael, mother, and I then took a quick trip to the neighbors to cut some okra!! We were all pretty tired by that point and were planning to go out that night with friends. They crashed for over an hour and I chilled with mother and grannie and a couple of friends/family that stopped in to visit.

About 8:00 I woke them up to get ready and we met up with a couple of my friends and left for Nacogdoches to visit one of our old stomping grounds! It wasn't very crowded b/c it is the summer and a lot of the college kids were gone - plus, Thursday is their busy night unless there is a concert or something going on. After a while it picked up a bit and we did have a good time! We even ran into someone that went to High School with Michael's brother!!!! Small world!

We didn't make it back home until pretty late and I had to it was a rough ride trying to stay awake. Michael tried to help, but he was having trouble staying awake himself!! I guess we're just getting old or something b/c by 10:00 I am usually ready to go to bed!!!

Sunday morning the three of us ended up sleeping in while mother and grannie went to church. Around 11:00 I fixed them some breakfast and mother was home around 12:30. Grannie had decided to have lunch out with friends - so we waited on her to come back with my aunt and uncle before heading back to Houston! We finally left around 3:00, stopping once to check out some Elk on my cousin's land (pictures to upload) and once more to grab lunch! Since I drove up there and home Saturday night, Michael drove back to Houston and I was so thankful!!! Steven crashed in the back seat most of the way, I dozed some and read some!

All in all we had a really good weekend!!! This coming weekend already has plans, too. The KILT Summer Concert Series is going on at the horse track right now so we have been going out there a lot. They feature a lot of our favorites - Texas Country singers!! This Friday, one of my personal favorites is coming!!! I have been looking forward to this! I prefer the old country to the new stuff and even to some of the Texas Country singers!! So far we have been out there every other Friday since the concerts started...and even then we leave early! Michael's brothers stay until the end and we alwasy seem to be heading out around 11:00!!!! They give us a hard time, but I just get too sleepy too early these days! We're on the go so much that I don't feel like I get any rest!

Then Saturday is Hailey's second baby shower here in Houston that I am helping with!! Afterwards there is a chance for another roadtrip. This one hasn't been set in stone and though I am sure it would be a lot of fun, I wouldn't mind if we didn't make it!!! B/c the following weekend I know we're driving out to Hempstead to the spend the day...that would be four Saturdays in a row that we were out of town if we head out there this Saturday! That's a lot!!

Well, I think I have recapped pretty thoroughly and even given future facts!!! So, I had better get off the internet and get to work!!!!!

I hope you had a great weekend, too!

One Hour to Go

I put a couple of new pictures up at Deviant Art this morning. I haven't updated my pages there in a while...really b/c I haven't taken anything that I thought was good enough to be put in there. Last week, though, I took several macros around the office and decided that I would put two of them in DA after all. I was originally just playing around with the camera. All of the pictures from the office are in here, but I've posted the two for DA below.

Murano Glass Paperweight Egyptian Perfume Bottles

I really like the one of the perfume bottles. They are some that I brought back with me from Egypt last time that I keep on the window in my office. The rain that day made a pretty good background. The other is a paperweight made of murano glass. I had wanted to start a good collection of it, but murano glass (or milefiori) is pretty expensive!! I only have a couple pieces, including some great earrings (that I got complimented on last week as a matter of fact ) that were a gift from Elaine!!!

Well, it's four o'clock...not much longer now and I am outta here for the weekend. I am going to make Michael drive and put his brother up in the front seat with I can sack out in the back for a change! Although, if I do that, I know that means both of them will probably be asleep while I drive back home when the weekend is over!

Friday Five

Usually on Fridays I try to participate in the Friday Five Meme - but this week I am going to skip it! For one, I don't feel like thinking too hard about My Life: The Movie...and for two, I didn't get as much work done yesterday as I should have before the weekend so I am shutting down the internet and getting it ALL done before I leave at five o'clock!!!!!

The weekend is here...

Well, this is how I have felt for about the past week - but yet another trip out of town this weekend and I won't be able to rest and get well!!! We're going up to East Texas for my niece's first baby shower. I am helping with two. This one and another one next weekend here in Houston. Yeah...I think this great-aunt had better get plenty of face time with our new little baby!!!!!

On another note...yestereday when I came home Michael got there shortly after me and when we opened the back door, this was the view!!!! I think that is the coolest thing to see when you step outside of your home!! I have seen ever more together at one time out there! Shortly afterwards more came around b/c we started feeding them. There are more pictures in my album.

While I was out there I thought I would take a view pictures of the plants that I have - they are actually doing very well!!! I am so pleased! I have never been one to have a green thumb, though my mother's house looks like the botanical gardens themselves!!!! So, I thought I would post a view and brag a little about how well they are doing!!! The second one has nearly tripled in size in just the few weeks I have had them!!!

Michael gave me this planter and the butterflies - there are more butterflies on the other side Don't you love the turtle planter?? This fern might be older than me

A real promised!!!

I learned something new this morning about my dog. Lately I have been trying to take him out to potty without using the leash and he has been doing really well. He listens and doesn't go too far and comes back when I call him - unless there is another dog around. Well, this morning, there was a little female out and when I went to get Chinook they were sniffing all over one another. I apologized to the dog's owner and we started talking. I got Chinook b/c my best friend's mother breeds Bichons and Pomeranians and Chinook was a result of an accident between the two. This lady's dog was a bichon and I told her that Chinook was part bichon - I have always known that Chinook thought he was a little badass...he is always acting like he is the size of a german shepherd or something!!! Normally he is only that way with other male dogs. After telling her how he acts around other male dogs, she told me that all bichons were that way. That females didn't get along with other females and that males didn't get along with other males...they only get on well with dogs of the opposite sex. Looking back, I can only think of ONE male dog that Chinook can tolerate and they aren't the best of friends!!!! I have been taking him with me to Michael's house every time I got these days, too. Michael has two male dogs and I am trying to get them used to one another...but it isn't going too well. After hearing this fact about bichons this morning, I am a bit afraid that it may never get any better. That isn't going to be good!! Chinook has a wonderful temperament and personality until you put another male dog in the mix...and then he tries to act ten feet tall and bulletproof. It nearly got him seriously hurt once...but we managed to separate him and my sister's brittany spaniel. Chinook still has a couple little places on his back that have little scabs on them. So...that is something I am going to have to work on b/c these dogs are going to have to get along with one another...I couldn't ask Michael to give up his dogs anymore than I would want to give up mine. I guess I'll have to look into a bit more and see if there is a way to make them get along. All suggestions are welcome!!!!!!

Quiz time...

I know haven't really posted much lately...things are just getting pretty busy around here and I haven't had too much time! I promise this week (fingers crossed) that I'll get a real post out...but just so that you know I'm out here, I'll post this quickly!!!

Ready for the weekend...and the next...and the next???

It's Friday...what do we have planned for this weekend? Well, the same thing we're going to do next weekend - going to East Texas. This weekend we're going up to a friend's camp - they ride ATVs and dirt bikes through about 50 miles of trails out there. I haven't been since July 4th, 2002 - so I am really looking forward to going back! It's a lot of fun and I'll be sure to get plenty of pictures! The next weekend we're going back up to East Texas, but we won't be playing in the woods! My niece's first baby shower is going to be up there, and though I had said I was only helping out with the one here, I am going up there to help out with that one, too. I think Michael is going to see if his brother's are interested in going up there, too - they can fish while I'm showering!!! The weekend after that? Well, that is my niece's other shower, the one I had originally planned on helping out with! And the weekened after? Yep, there are plans then, too. My friend is going to a bachelorette party that Friday and has asked me to take care of her son that night. He is 13 months old - well, he'll be almost 14 months then - and I have never kept him over night. I told Michael he had to help me out...that it would be good practice!!!! Actually, I am kinda looking forward to it...and then the next day we're going to Hempstead to the Hunting Extravaganza. Apparently that is an annual thing for Michael and his brothers!!

You know I get very jealous of his relationship with his siblings sometimes! I mean, I have four brothers and sisters, but the youngest of the four is fifteen years older than me. I don't have a lot in common with them and don't pal around with them they way Michael does with his brothers. All my siblings are married and have their own children to worry about. If we go out with anyone these days it is his brothers - which I really don't mind b/c I like them a lot! They are both younger, one by four years and the other by eight. I am thankful that Michael is so close to his family. That's important to me. They have become closer and more comfortable with me, too. I can tell they trust me b/c they have started coming to me with questions about relationships and other life issues. I think that's pretty cool. It's almost like I have a couple of younger brothers now! The middle one is more likely to want to go to clubs and such and he has his buddies to do that with b/c Michael and I aren't really into that much anymore. We start getting sleepy around 11:00!! His youngest brother is more like Michael - he prefers to hunt and fish and just chill out. He isn't into going out and partying or anything like that. And he is shy, just like Michael. Their idea of a perfect weekend would be going up to the country and fishing all weekend - which is basically what Michael does when he goes to East Texas with me, that's why he has been wanting to get his brothers to go up there with us and I think next weekend they will be! I don't think we'll fish any this weekend. There is a small lake where we're going, but last time we just swam in it - no fishing! It's going to be too hot to stand out there and fish anyway. At least when we're on the four-wheelers there will be wind to help cool us a bit!!!!

Well, it's eight and a half hours until I can get out of here for the weekend, so I had better get started so that this day will go by quickly!!!

Have a great Friday...and a great weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Friday Five

1. When was the last time you cheated? Cheated? Like on a test, or someone - I have never cheated on anyone before, but I think I gave in to tempation in high school chemistry!!!

2. When was the last time you stole? I have never stolen anything...

3. When was the last time you lied? Hmmm, I try never to do this either, but I guess the last thing I lied about was last was a white lie, though. I didn't want to take leftovers home for lunch today from Michael's mother b/c I didn't want tacos again - so I told her I had soup that I had made to bring, which actually turned about to be true, b/c I packed a bowl of it this morning and brought it into the office!!!!

4. When was the last time you broke or vandalized another's property? I have never done that...unless you count toilet-papering someone's house and that would also be a high school event (I promise I really wasn't a bad teenager!!!)...

5. When was the last time you hurt a loved one? Last week...I told my mother I wasn't coming back to their house b/c my father and I had a big fight. (It's since been resolved, but it really hurt her to hear us fighting...)

A match made in the heavens...

Talk about your long distance relationships!!!

Tech Help

OKay...I have a question for all you pros out there! I find cool animated gifs all the time that I like to the one on the previous post (well, it USED to be animated). It had a white background and didn't look good so I thought I would transfer it to a transparent one instead. At home I use photoshop for things like this, but here at work I don't have access to those kinds of programs so I simply use the photo editor for quick little fixes....trouble is that when I do this and save it and FTP the image it loses its animation - WHY!?!?!

Hump Day

Doesn't this look like somewhere you would want to go??? I always said that if I could have any job in the world, I would want to be a professional first choice would be for National Geographic and if not then I would want to be a professional sports photographer. OKay...enough daydreaming, back to reality...

...which is the nasty weather outside my window. We didn't get hit with any realy damage from Claudette, but other area of Texas did. It rained enough to cancel yesterday's softball instead of playing ball, we watched it! It was a pretty good game...and definitely good for MVP Garrett Anderson, who also won the Home Run Derby...lots of bonuses this season for Mr. Anderson. It was long, though, b/c it was after 11:00 before it was over.

Even though we didn't get a lot of damage yesterday from Claudette, it still looks pretty nasty out there today - very, very overcast and yucky looking! I hope it clears up before Friday, though, b/c we're contemplating going back to East Texas again this weekend. I am so glad that Michael enjoys it up there, b/c before I never had much reason to visit. Now I really like to go and spend time up there. I guess you begin to appreciate things you took for granted before as you get older!!!! Anyway, I don't want to go up there if it is going to be nasty! You can't ride four-wheelers in the rain, well I guess you can, but my preference is to ride in dry weather!!!!

This or That

1. Bugs Bunny or Daffy Duck? Bugs
2. Tom or Jerry? Jerry
3. Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck? Donald
4. Rocky & Bullwinkle or Boris & Natasha? Rocky and Bullwinkle
5. Road Runner or Wile E. Coyote? Road Runner
6. Sylvester or Tweety? Tweety
7. Popeye or Bluto? Popeye
8. South Park or The Simpsons? The Simpsons
9. Jetsons or Flintstones? Flintstones
10. And finally, the eternal question asked by all good Scooby-Doo fans: Velma or Daphne? Ugh, Velma Daphne - this one is too hard! Scooby is my favorite cartoon and I like all the characters...but since I have to choose, I guess I'll go with Daphne...and I don't have a clue why!! Maybe b/c she has good hair! But Velma is the smart one!!!

Surf's Up!!

How brave are you!?!?

Well, Houston Weather has taken a turn...I wish you could see the view outside of my window. I have stated before that it was pretty cool to be up this high to watch the weather from Houston, but today all I see are clouds in all shades of gray and black whirling over head. Driving in this morning I went through sporatic rain. Now it looks very calm down below, but seeing the clouds moving in I know that's just the calm before the storm!!! I can't see downtown today, but I can see lights in that direction. I am sitting with my lights off in order to see out the window b/c it is getting darker out there! I saw patches of blue this morning, but in just fifteen minutes there is no trace of blue sky out there! I love to watch this weather...trouble is, I'd rather sit and watch it change than be working.

So, I had better turn the lights back on and get to work already!

I have a half day today!!! Michael and I are going to Astroworld and to the Boat Show. I usually do this every year with my parents, but they went yesterday with my sister and her husband.

Saturday Michael has a softball tournament, but I think I am going to hang out at home. I have a lot of things I need to do and my parents are supposed to bring my dog to me at some point during the day. I have been wanting him to stay with me again and they are going out of town for a week, so this is the perfect time. I always hated thinking of him in the apartment all day while I am at parents are home all day so he wasn't alone, but I don't think it will be bad. All he really does is sleep during the day anyway!! I can't wait for him to stay with me, though!!!!

Friday Five

1. Do you remember your first best friend? Who was it? Yeah, it was the first day of Kindergarten...her name was Crystal!

2. Are you still in touch with this person? Not really...I see her every once in a while. We still have one another's contact information, though.

3. Do you have a current close friend? Yeah...two.

4. How did you become friends with this person? One I grew up with and one I worked with.

5. Is there a friend from your past that you wish you were still in contact with? Why? Yeah, there are a couple...b/c I remember having good times with them and wish our lives hadn't taken us apart from one another.

ammendment: I originally answered thinkging outside my current "relationship" - but I have to say that my current bestest friend is could we be anything else if we weren't the best of friends!!! Outside of that, Dennon and Elaine are my bestest friends!!! I know they will always be there for me and I hope they know that I am always here when they need me!!!!

I have added some new photos to the new art site that I joined. I didn't know at first how I was going to enjoy this site, but since I have spent time in there and learned more about it I really like it. I hope to become a lot more active in it in the near future...and hopefully get back into my photography and digital manipulation like I used to be.

Let me know what you think!?!?

This is my second attempt at coming to work today...

It was supposed to go like to the fitness center, work out, get dressed, get breakfast, come into my office and tell you how disappointed I was that I didn't have my backup battery for my camera last night at the ball game b/c I left it at my sister's and that I would have had wonderful shots b/c we were on the lowest level right behind first base!!!! How sad I was when I realized the battery in my camera was run down...

But here's what really happened...starting at about 4:00 AM this morning - I had a bad nightmare that woke me up only to fall asleep and continue with another nightmare then I was awakened yet another time b/c I had a charlie horse in my calf. So I finally manage to go back to sleep after all this, wake up, brush my teeth, put on my gym clothes grab my bag and off to the gym I go! WooHoo...the day is getting off! WRONG! Today I planned to do arms in the gym so I needed my gloves from my locker...I walk into the locker room, put down my bag, turn to open my locker and realized that I had left my clothes for work hanging on the closet door!!!!!! UGH!! So, after about 60 seconds of griping I'm out the door again heading home to get dressed. I make it into work by 8:00, I now have some breakfast (cottage cheese and pineapple) and I am hoping that the irritation ends with this morning's endeavors!!!!

Back to my original vent, though - we really did have a great time at the game last night despite the fact that I couldn't take any pictures. We had great seats behind first base, but Michael's brothers and their friends were sitting a couple sections over near the foul pole so we moved to sit with them. A foul ball was caught just two rows behind us!!!! And several home run balls were caught just to our right!! From now on I have decided that is where I want to sit when I go to the ball games!! We came home and saw it on SportsCenter!! Y'know it's a good thing that I like sports b/c I think otherwise Michael and I would have a lot of problems!!!! :)

Another Star's Sex Life in the News

[Lisa Marie] says she’s cutting men out of her life at least for now because they would interfere with her music career.

First...I think the interference here isn't the's her voice!!! I have only heard her once during a half time show, but I couldn't understand a word she said...though I did notice she has been working on her dadd'y pelvic moves!!! And second, well yeah you're going to have failed marriages when you hook up with actors who idolize your daddy and well, Michael Jackson!?!?! I love your music Michael...but what's wrong with YOU!?!?! C'mon Lisa...swearing off men??? Drama Queens!!!!!!

Some of this and some of that...

Well, the Rockets now have a new logo for next season!!! You can vote on it on their site. It's not will just take some getting used to, though. What do you think!?!?!

TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME In other sports news, our boys are back in first place!!! I think we're going to make a trip out out to the ballpark tonight and see if they can keep it up!!! WooHoo!! Go Stros! Michael's team won both their games last night, too...though Michael is in a bit of a slump right now. At their last tournament he messed his hand up pretty bad (either broke or severly jammed a finger) and his has his batting off. He'll get out of it, though, I'm sure.

Oh, I also bought book number five last week and finally got started on it yesterday!!! I think if I had more time I would have it finished in a couple of days!! Just like the others, I pick it up and don't want to put it down!!! I am only on chapter four right now, though. I thought I had three of the others in hard back, but it turns out I only had two...but I have them all in now I have decided to finish out the collection and buy them all in hardback.

I uploaded my pictures from the 4th of July last night. Most of them are of the weather actually, but the rest are of us fishing and one very interesting one!! We were trying to see how many hands could fit on my niece's belly now that she is eight months pregnant!!!

Well, I have gone on about this and that, but I really should get some work done!!!!!

Sad news

I heard this on the radio today and became sick to my stomach. I couldn't believe what this woman told officers..."She indicated she thought someone else was going to get the children out of the car, possibly her husband," Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Al Grotefend said. "There was some miscommunication." How do you walk away from a car and not realize that your children are still inside??? And this woman runs a day care center...that means that she should have received formal training about taking care of children...and she was a foster parent, which means that a court deemed her competent to care for children!!!!!! I cannot believe how people can do things like this and then simply dismiss it so as "miscommunication" outrageous is that!?!?

This or That

Weekend Update

We left Thursday night for Broaddus...we drove late so there really wasn't that much traffic. Not like I thought there would be anyway! I talked the entire way b/c I hate falling asleep on Michael while he is we had a lot of good conversation to make the drive go faster! We arrived at my Grannie's around 12:30 and went straight to bed, but we were still up at 6:30 to head out to my sister's to go fishing. (I have pictures, but they aren't posted yet) We fished most of the morning and then fixed breakfast pizzas for everyone. At one time or another all my siblings were there with their we had a house full all weekend!!! We spent all Friday there. The fireworks were scheduled for 8 o'clock that night at the high school, but we were told it was cancelled b/c of the rain - so the guys decided to shoot off their own show for us over the pond! It was a good show, but over the tree tops we saw fireworks coming from town. Turns out the show at the high school wasn't cancelled after all!!! We still had a good show, though!!! So Friday was spent fishing, shooting clays, riding in the mud, cooking, eating, and watching fireworks. Saturday was pretty much the same minus the fireworks!! Sunday we slept in - until around 10:00 and then went to church and had lunch at my Grannie's house. After lunch we hung around for a little while to visit with my Grannie before heading back to Houston. We had a b'day party to attend when we first drove back into town, for Kenny and EJ and then decided to go see a movie with Kenny, Elaine, and Mandy! We ended up on the first row b/c we got there right at the start was still a good show, though. Lots of laughs, lots of action, lots of special effects!!! It was worth a trip to the theater!!!

So, what's on the agenda for this week? Well, work is still pretty busy...I had a dentist appointment this morning so I didn't get in until after nine. (They forgot about it and I had a phone call wondering where I was!!! Ha Ha!) Tonight we aren't really planning anything - although we might go look at furniture. Tuesday is softball. I think we might go see an Astros game Wednesday night. Thursday night we'll watch basketball - Michael's brother is in the playoffs and his other brother made the All-Star team!! Congrats to both! Friday I think we're both going to take a half day and go to Astroworld (I have been wanting to go all summer and the one day we did go it was closed b/c of bad I'm really looking forward to this!) Then the next two weekends are softball tournaments (Saturdays) before heading back to Broaddus for the first of two baby showers for my niece the following weekend. When things get so busy I end up having things on my calendar months in advance...have I mentioned that I am exhausted yet!!!

So, I hope you had a great 4th of July and a safe one!!! Let me know how you spent it!!

Since I'm leaving today for the weekend...

I hope you have a wonderful...

This would be a good...Tell it Over a Miller Light

Being female, once a month I have a special little bag that I stick in my purse! (Female readers probably know what I am talking about and the males that don't - ask your girlfriend/wife/mother/sister, whatever!) So this week I am carrying my little zippy pouch from Harrods with me that I bought during a layover in London on our way to Spain (2002 Vacation w/ Elaine, Kenny, and CJ)!! Now, since I do at least keep them in a pouch I don't make a big deal about hiding the pouch...and since I don't make a big deal about hiding it, I had it laying on top of my desk when my unsuspecting coworker came in to chit chat!!!

So, dear Bob comes into my office, sees my pretty pouch, and picks it up. I notice, but didn't say anything at first...then, like a child trying to guess their Christmas present before ripping off the wrapping paper, he starts squeezing and feeling trying to decide what I had secured in my little zippy pouch from Harrods!!! I could have let him continue to guess and then open it up to discover my hidden treasures, but not being able to pull good gags on people and not wanting to embarrass him too badly, I decided to simply tell him that he might not want to open it!!!!!! Needless to say he got it and turned three shades of red before putting it carefully back on my desk and turning and walking out!!!!

Ha Ha...guys are so funny when they get embarrassed!!!!
