Today after work my parents were coming to have dinner with me since I am leaving tomorrow for LA. The plan was just to have dinner, but when I remembered that tonight was the Lighting of the Doves festivities we decided to walk over and see what was scheduled for the evening. So, they picked me up at my office and we ran home so that I could change clothes and grab my camera. We got back about fifteen minutes before things started. There were vendors from all the sponsor and singers, fireworks, dancers, performers...and they have an ice rink set up in front of the mall. We watched several ice skating groups from around town. The little kids skating were so cute!
The main stage was set up on the south side of the events b/c that was were the fireworks were going to be shown as well as the lighting of the doves. I wish I had a picture of the doves, but I wasn't able to get a good one. After I get back I'll try to get a good one to post. The doves really are pretty. There is a suspension bridge in front of my building and the doves are displayed there. This is the 20th anniversary of this event...who knew!?!?
It was very nice to spend time with my parents...I even introduced them to their first picture yourself! There were kids everywhere!! The cutest one was this little boy...he took his empty bag of potato chips and opened it up and put it on his head like a hat! He enjoyed showing it off to me and for the camera!
I met up with one of my co-workers, as well. Her daughter and I are good buddies!!!!
It was a great evening...
