These bronze statues are the central decor in front of our new building in The Woodlands. The artist is Dick Idol. The statues in real life are rather huge and are placed around the circle drive on the North side of the Tower with a flowing brook all around...and at one point small rapids!! At first I didn't think I would like these, but after walking by them every morning I am growing to enjoy them!
Is that a window office??? Why, yes it is!! Is that MY window office??? Why yes it is!!! Well, we finally got moved!!! Monday was our first day here...there wasn't much work going on yesterday. Mostly just unpacking and touring everything. Yesterday was prettty foggy so I didn't take any pictures, but today is a bit clearer. I can barely see downtown and Transco...er, Williams Tower. I am going to have to get a mirror to put on my computer...I can't see when people are walking up on me b/c my back is to the door. There are a few more pictures posted in my albums and hopefully I will get some good ones of the rest of the office building to post. It really is beautiful up here...I look down over Lake Robbins and 45 South! The drive is about the same b/c I am taking the Hardy Toll Road...and The Woodlands definitely have a lot more to offer than Greenspoint, though it is a little farther from everything. Well, I think I am going to head out to lunch...
This makes me wonder if I should leave a copy of this in my neighbor's mailbox...their dog bit me once and ruined a new suit...now whenever they are out they will charge anyone who is around. I love dogs and would hate to see anything happen to them, but at the same time there are a lot of kids on my street and it won't be long before one of them gets overpowered by my neighbor's Walmerieners (or however you spell that, the Ghost Dog)...
Here's the Thursday Threesome for March 21st...Onesome. See it. What is something so beautiful you have seen that the picture of it is etched into your mind, and soul, forever? My grandmother...she is the purest most beautiful woman in the world...in heart, body, and soul! She is my cornerstone.Twosome. Smell it. What one scent stands out in your mind as always making you feel happy and secure in your life? Clean linens and Oil of Olay lotion...both remind me of being a child and sleeping in my mother's bed...the safest place I can remember.Threesome. Taste it. When you think of tasting, what one thing comes to mind as bliss for your taste buds? When we were in Italy we had a tirimasu on the last night we were there that absolutely left me in utter bliss...
Another quizz...yeah, I need help, too!! This one thanks to Sputnik!!! (a soon to be new H-Town Blogger)
Well, it looks like I am going to have to wait a little while longer...and while I DO want a good finished product, I am very anxious to get to read The Order of the Phoenix! Otherwise, I am on a high today! We had a meeting in The Woodlands this morning and afterwards we got a chance to see our new building and go up to the 28th floor to see our new offices. I am so pumped about moving now!!! Monday we'll be there!!! I have been in a cubicle since I got out of college so I am very psyched about getting walls, a window, and most importantly a DOOR that I can shut!!! There is also a great cafeteria downstairs and a wonderful new fitness area...there's a Starbuck's, too...and our credit union. After we get settled I'll post pictures of the office and the great view...
Parents Sue for Wrongful...Birth???"The human cost of this new litigation is terrible. Parents publicly tell a child that they wish he or she had never been born. Disabled children may penalize loving parents who cared enough to bear them, despite "flaws." Hard to believe what we are able to sue for in this country! I had no idea something like this even existed!
Well, thanks to Robert I can see what I would look like with Debra Messing's haircut...what do you think??? I like it! Would mean cutting a bit off, though, but I think I could live with that.
Okay...I want this hair!!! Debra Messing has the prettiest hair. Normally it is quite a bit more red than this, but I really like this color! hmm...don’t think I want to go that short, though! I wonder if my beautician can work this on longer hair! We’ll see... Brrr...they have the office so cold this morning! Actually, then whole week has been that way. My fingers don’t want to type...you know that feeling you get when you are so cold you are afraid that your finger will just shatter like Robert Patrick did in T2...well, that is how my fingers AND toes feel this morning, but in less than a week I will have control of the temperature in my office, oh excuse me, my NEW office!!! I think I will go make myself a cup of hot tea...see if I can’t get some warmth around here!!! Oh...I bought the best yogurt last night! I usually don’t like to eat yogurt by itself, I actually bought this to make smoothies, but this I could definitely eat as it is! It is Dannon Light ‘n Fit, Vanil…

Okay, 9 out of 10, this is what I got...now someone please tell me who the heck this is (besides the little brother of one of my classmates in high school...named P.J. Harvey):
Which Rock Chick Are You?
Pictures, Pictures, Pictures!! There are several nights out included in this album...and there are some rather interesting photos in here as well!! Elaine and I took some time away from the rest of the group to check out a relatively new club downtown called Twelve Spot and while there we had fun playing with the digital...as you'll see!! There are a few other new pics among my albums...among them being some pictures from my last trip to East Texas. My cousin and I were driving across the Hwy. 147 bridge during sunset and I couldn't resist stopping to take a few pictures. The rest are in the Misc. album on the Public folders page.
I had a rather quiet weekend. Friday night I went out with everyone and had a really nice time...as always! Saturday and Sunday were spent at home nursing a migraine! My sister thinks they are acting up b/c of the pollen that is everywhere right now...maybe so, maybe not. The traffic is definitely evidence that school is back in session. During spring break it was nice b/c everyone was out of town and there wasn't so much traffic...today, though, they were all back in town. The weather definitely warmed up as well...Houston's infamous humidity is coming back. This morning was so muggy. During lunch I went outside and it wasn't as thick as it was this morning, just overcast.
Unfortunately this is the view that was in my rear view window this morning. My daily commute to work takes me down a pretty rural road each morning. I like this route b/c there are not quite as many vehicles as there would be going down the main roads...however, there are just as many police officers and the speed limits changes every 100 yards!! It is still a calmer commute, though...and typically I abide by all the posted speed limit signs; however, this morning as I was running even later than usual I let my heavy foot get me into trouble!! Que sera sera...thank goodness for DefensiveDriving.com!! I was planning on having a very positive post this morning about our outing last night...so putting this morning’s escapades aside, that is exactly what I am going to do!!! Last night was so much fun!! Robert picked me up around 5:30 and we headed downtown to meet friends at Birroporetti’s for a delicious dinner...then we headed over to the theater for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Ne…
Tonight we are going to see One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, we being myself, Robert, Sherry, and EJ. I think it is going to be very good! I love to go to live performances!! I also want to welcome Elaine back to town. She and Kenny have been gone for a while! Otherwise, everything is pretty calm around here. I brought my camera to work today. Since we're moving in a week I wanted to get some pictures of the old office!!! For nostalgia!!!!
Today has been kind of an icky day...I think mainly b/c of the weather. It is grey and cloudy and so humid...and it is leaking into my mood today! I woke up this morning to come in and work out, but was so tired. Sometimes you just have to listen to your body when it tells you that it is tired...and that is exactly what I did this morning...maybe I should have listened to it when it said to stay home, too!! Sorry, I don't mean to be a drag today! I actually had a pretty good weekend. Friday Kim and I went out and had a good time with a couple of friends and Saturday I spent all day shopping with my mother. I usually don't really like to shop, but every once it a while I get the urge and Saturday was one of those days...especially since a new store has opened in Houston and they were having big sales this weekend! If I am going to go shopping I want to know that I got a good deal on something!!!! It was good time we spent together!!! Sunday was a lazy day...the only time I l…
My vent for the morning... I have only recently begun watching ER on NBC and through a coworker's observations realized last night's episode had a very John Hughes / Breakfast Club feel to it. Are the writer's at NBC lacking in original ideas or have today's sitcoms gone through so many scenarios that the only option left is to regurgitate old movie story lines in order to keep their shows on the air... Well, enough of that...it is Friday and therefore a good day in the week...means I have a couple of days to catch up on much needed sleep!!!! Work is getting quite hectic today so I'll have to bring this post to a close...
Despite all the negative things that seem to go on around me, things like this make me realize what is so important anyway...that a friend would randomly send me something like this (and I haven’t found out who, yet) makes me smile!!! Thanks who ever you are... Today has been a pretty good day!! On the way in this morning ****oh update - I just found out it was EJ!! THANK YOU**** I was listening to NPR and heard a great story by Baxter Black, where he sees his own reflection in the mischieviousness of his two children...it was really good and actually made me think about EJ on the way in this morning. Random Realization: My desk is extremely cluttered this afternoon... My bachelorette days are coming to an end this evening...I have had the house all to myself these past few days, but the family is returning from their excursion today. Actually it’s good, though...I don’t like being in that big house all by myself (Elaine, soon you’ll be saying that!!!). It gets really quiet a…
WOW...what a day!!! I have been running all over the place this morning trying to get my work done!!!! This is the first time I have even opened the internet today!! Last night's meeting of the H-Town Bloggers was very nice!!! We had a couple join us that weren't members yet, but hopefully they will join after last night's happy hour!! Attendees: ElaineEJSherryDave and Miss DixieCharlesGinger - New H-Town Blogger (hopefully...) Michael - along with her husband.... ...and Me, of course!!! It was nice to meet everyone...next time we hope to be able to accomodate everyone, timewise as well at parking-wise (Larry)...and have a big gathering!!! Thanks for coming everyone!!! I only had a couple of pics so I'll probably link to Elaine's once she gets them posted!
Well, I do believe that I am going to have to agree with EJ, this afternoon isn't the greatest, but tonight is going to make up for it!!! Getting loaded on caffeine at the 2nd Happy Hour for H-Town Blogs is going to make all the work woes flutter away for the evening!!! I think we are going to have a pretty good turn-out, although a couple of people have prior engagements that couldn't be broken...but we'll post plenty of pics and write-ups about the evening and catch them on the next go-round!! (Is it just me, or are all of my words suddenly becoming hyphenated?!?!)
I have absolutely no motivation this morning. I woke up early enough to come to the gym this morning, but decided to enjoy the peace and quiet instead. So I fixed a cup of coffee and sat in front of the fire to talk to mother for a while. We talked for a long time and just enjoyed one another’s company before we had to start our days. They are going to East Texas today so I won’t see her for a few days. It is really nice being able to live with her again. I really didn’t think I would like it, but I do. It is all working out so well and easier on my stress levels believe it or not!!!! That was the real shocker! I thought it would only add to it, but it is just the opposite. And she and I are very close. After about an hour I decided to search airfares for my vacation this year, but didn’t really settle on one...so I am still searching. We are going to Egypt in May. It’s been a couple of years so now is a good time and my uncle is getting married so it is the perfect excuse not to p…
Another weekend has passed...this one was quite productive, as far as my niece’s wedding is concerned anyway...any my mother’s b’day!!! Friday night was for me, though...we met up to play pool like we do every Friday! Then we went to Cafe Red Onion. This is one of my favorite places to eat!! Good suggestion Susan!!! Afterwards we went to Cafe Artiste, where I got loaded on caffeine! I had a handful of chocolate covered espresso beans, a tall cinnamon hazelnut, and a frozen cappuccino!!! My high quickly faded, though, b/c I fell asleep while we were watching A Fish Called Wanda, but since I have seen it a million times I didn’t have to ask what happened this time!! Saturday was my mother’s birthday, so we (meaning my sisters and my niece) had a little surprise get-together for her and gave her the quilting frame that we bought! She was so excited she cried!!! hee hee...it was fun! Then we got to work addressing invitations for the wedding and for the bridal shower...after hour…
