You have an air of intelligence about you, some might even perceive you as being stuck up. You seem like you may be a nice person when you're not throwing one of your ever-present hissy fits and being a bitch to everyone. And take off your socks when you make whoopie, he hates it!

I had to come in to work today...I know most of you are home enjoying a vacation day and getting ready to celebrate New Year's Eve...I don't have that luxury b/c I used up all my vacation days!! Saturday was our family Christmas. We did a scavenger hunt for the kids and took them on a hayride. Most of the family were there. I think only a couple were absent. All in all it was a pretty good time!!
From toilets and crickets to ripped pants and going over the edge...and from there it simply digressed!! Where oh where to begin!! Friday night was so interesting I just have to share (in detail) with the rest of the world...the cyberworld anyway and that is where most of our friends reside a lot of the time anyway!!! EJ and Lawrence met me at work around six p.m. and we headed off to Elaine's. And for the record I was the only one to notice (besides Robert) that EJ had cut off all his hair and was almost clean-shaven!!! Kudos for me!! I should have known the night would be interesting when I missed the turn off to the beltway...I also took a wrong turn on the way back to the office...but one U-turn later we were back on track, but I was blinded b/c EJ flashed a pic of me driving. This was the first time he had seen me without my naked ladies shirt, I guess he thought it had to be documented! When we arrived at Elaine's she was indisposed and couldn't open the door (she thought I had my key) so I got to know Lawrence for a bit and he and EJ and I had interesting conversation on the front porch that consisted of toilets and dead crickets while waiting on her to open the door!! (Lawrence is quite observant...) So, we finally collected Elaine and were off to meet Sherry at Nit Noi!! Dinner was wonderful, as always at Nit Noi, but my one suggestion for them - they should offer the Thom Kai Ghai as an appetizer!!! A few glasses of wine and a lot of Thai food later we left for Brasil's, taking leftovers with us...so now my truck has an interesting aroma!! Brasil's was great as well. We sat outside and drank Chai and granitas and hot chocolate with Tiramisu and bread pudding. We also ran into Robert and Oskar who were there with Sky and Chris and his fiancee, Anna Lisa. So after good dessert and conversation we left to go have drinks at Kelvin Arms...this is where the night took a turn!! Earlier in the night EJ was concerned that he had ripped his khakis...but at Kelvin Arms this was confirmed!!! And just for note, I did NOT take this picture. I figured since Lawrence and EJ had a past together and being the only one of the group to see him as God made him, he wouldn't mind pointing the camera at EJ's crotch!!! Needless to say EJ was out there at our mercy for the rest of the night!! For once the conversation wasn't focused on Hanna's body parts and the ridicule was focused on the male population of the group. It was wonderful!!! Elaine and I sat innocently on the couch and pondered all the taunting that was in store!!! Poor Sherry was stuck between EJ and Lawrence so her verbal taunting had to be monitored...she was in striking distance!!! Although, EJ didn't dare...being exposed as he was he had to mind his choice of words!!! He didn't dare go over the Edge b/c he knew our retaliation would be uncensored and posted soon!!! Ah, vengeance is mine...you should have heeded your grandfather's advice EJ!! So when we weren't giving EJ grief we filled him and Lawrence in on past stories from Kelvin Arms and Market Square Grille and other places we like to frequent!! Eventually the night drew to an end and I dropped Sherry off at her car and EJ and Lawrence and I took Elaine back home...then proceeded back to my office where EJ had left his car. After dropping them off I headed home...that is when I realized you left your doggie bags in the back seat, Lawrence!!!! The fog was so thick last night I could barely see the car in front of me driving down 1960. I am writing this while riding in the back of the excursion heading to Broaddus with my sister and dad...so it won't get posted for a while...maybe tonight...so EJ be thankful it was off the internet as long as it was!!!

I'm tired...I'm going to bed...
About the only thing I got accomplished at work today was getting new comments for my blog. I wasn't able to get in too much b/c they were down for maintenance for a while...guess that means I really shouldn't be working on personal stuff at work! What else was there to do, though?!?! Work??? We just finished dinner - stuffed bell peppers and zuchini...it was pretty good. And then I fixed a hot cup of chamomile herbal tea with honey...that is quickly becoming a nightly tradition with me. It is really relaxing and nice to have while I am reading. I am so thankful that tomorrow is Friday. I can't wait for the holidays to be over with and being at work while everyone is either vacationing or talking about how great the holidays are isn't the way I want to spend my time right now. Friday night I think I am going out with Elaine and EJ and one of EJ's friends. I have no idea where, though...Elaine, you'll have to fill me in tomorrow sometime! Saturday morning we have to get up early to head back to Broaddus. Me, my dad, my sister, and her youngest son are going up for our family Christmas. Everyone else will already be up there. I think my mother and Grannie are going early Friday morning to help with dinner preparations. Today's High: Getting my nails done Today's Low: Getting out of bed
I have comments again...YAY!!

I wanted to share a picture of my beautiful baby boy...
FOUND: One blind, epileptic, white Bichon wearing a Texas A&M sweater!!! Yeah, you read that correctly! Last night we went to look at Christmas lights and instead found a lost dog!! We asked everyone we saw, but no one had ever seen the dog before. His collar only had the vet's information...not the owner's, so we had to wait until this morning to find out anything about it. After I left for work mother called the vet and found out the dog's name is Cotton and that he has seizures...luckily he didn't have one while we had her b/c I don't know how I would have handled that. The vet called the owners who in turn called our house and immediately came to get the dog. She said they had left her outside while they were gone and when they returned she had got out somehow! They searched for a hour or so...I am just glad we found out who she belonged to. Chinook was getting jealous!!!

Well, today we are at my sister's house. I spent the night here so that I could watch her kids open their presents this morning. She and I played Santa yesterday and wrapped presents for them...it was fun to watch them this morning! Then after a trip home to shower and fetch Mother (blurry pic) and Grannie we came back to start cooking for dinner. We are having grilled fish, fried shrimp, hush-puppies, steamed veggies, and for Grannie - chicken, b/c she doesn't like anything out of the water!! Macon has been upstairs all morning playing on his new PS2..and Ross has been on the computer most of the morning, begging to have a taste of the Shrimp that is getting done, (I think Donna has been pacifying him was hush-puppies, though!), while John works on getting our fish grilled outside! As you can tell, I am trying to get the hang of my new digital toy... Dad isn't here today, b/c as I stated before he had to go to work, but we all spoke to him this morning and wished him a Merry Christmas. I am sure he was pleased to hear from all of us... Well, today marks the end of the holiday, almost. Next weekend we have to make the treck back up to East Texas for our big family Christmas gathering. Everyone had plans to be elsewhere this weekend and today, so it was put off until the 29th. Just stretches it out a bit, I guess. The Scrooge persona is dwindling in me; however, I will be glad to get passed New Year's. I haven't had to venture out into the masses too much this holiday season, which I am very thankful for, b/c I don't think my supply of goodwill was vast enough for the hustle and bustle. I only really shopped two days and avoided the mall as much as possible. There was some online shopping that took place and a few strip malls were hit. I still have to pick up my brother's present. I know what I am getting him I just haven't made the purchase yet! I won't say what b/c his daughter reads my blog and I don't want it to accidently slip...Tasha!! So, tomorrow during lunch maybe I'll pick that up. Yes, tomorrow I rejoin the working class...much to my dismay. I have so enjoyed this past week. It was good to have two short weeks in a row...actually, three b/c next week is New Year's and we don't work on the 1st. We have to go in on the 31st, but I am sure there won't be many people in the office and hopefully we will head out early! As I mentioned before I have found a new doctor that I like very much. The 3rd I have to go to the hospital for some tests. She is actually interested in figuring out what is wrong with me instead of just prescribing me another drug...she did that, but is also going to see about getting to the cause of the ailments! I think I am grateful for that, but it does mean testing and numerous trips to the doctor, which I am not looking forward to.

Sorry, I've been out of pocket for a few days. We went to Broaddus Friday afternoon, but things were so busy beforehand that I never got a chance to sit down at the computer...here's a quick (I hope) synopsis: I took Thursday off from work so I decided to move my dentist appointment up a few hours...so around 9:00 I headed to the dentist's office to get my teeth cleaned. Afterwards I decided to run a few errands since I was out and about and it was a beautiful day. I headed to downtown Humble to the camera store. There is a camera store there that has a darkroom that you can rent...sometimes I wish I just joined there instead of getting my own darkroom, b/c I HATE mixing chemistry. I don't mind cleaning up the darkroom at all, but I don't like to set it up!! So, I took my camera in for servicing, no not my new digital. I have a canon that I bought right after I got my first job out of college. Now I mainly use this one for black and white...although it has truly been a while!!! So, while in DT Humble I decided to try out my new digital. DT Humble reminds me of a historic town in East Texas, I presume that is what they were going for...dunno, but I took a lot of pics nonetheless! So then I went to my beautician's new salon. I hadn't seen it since she moved and thought since I was right there I would stop by and make an appointment...which should usually be done weeks in advance b/c she is always so busy...but to my surprise she said she would be able to fit me in that evening. So I headed home to await the time of my appointment...and help out a little bit b/c that night everyone was coming over for dinner since dad would be leaving the next day to go to work and wouldn't be back until after the holidays were over (sometimes I wish I could head out until after the holidays were over with, too...) After my appointment I came back home and everyone came over for dinner and a few gifts were exchanged...the next morning mother took dad to meet his ride around 6 a.m. and I got dressed to take my truck to get my brush guard installed...then mother picked me up there and I had a doctors appointment...spent most of my holiday in and out of different doctors offices!!!! A few needle pricks and prescriptions later, we headed out only to run into some old friends of ours who were visiting someone in the hospital and ended up visiting with them for about 45 minutes or so...really is a small world isn't it... So, fast forward about 7 hours and my truck is FINALLY finished and we are able to get on the road and go to Grannie's...mother and I that is... This weekend was pretty nice...saw a lot of family...got together with Dennon and Toni...I have pics to add later. Toni cooked us a great dinner and we had a good bottle of wine and exchanged our gifts to one another! Then today we had a few errands to run and finally were able to get back to Houston...there was no traffic since it is Christmas Eve...and tomorrow we are having Christmas dinner at my sister's house. Well, that is enough...I am going to upload some pics from this weekend...

Sorry, I've been out of pocket for a few days. We went to Broaddus Friday afternoon, but things were so busy beforehand that I never got a chance to sit down at the computer...here's a quick (I hope) synopsis:

I took Thursday off from work so I decided to move my dentist appointment up a few hours...so around 9:00 I headed to the dentist's office to get my teeth cleaned.

Well, mother and dad and I did our Santa Claus tonight. Dad is leaving to go to work on Friday so we had our Christmas tonight. Tomorrow we are having a small family gathering to have Christmas dinner, too...this way he gets to have all the xmas celebration that we will be experiencing...just on a smaller scale! Although, there was nothing small about tonight!!! I must say we all pretty much made out like bandits tonight!!! I did get the camera that I wanted! I never dreamed they were going to buy it...I had found several online that I was going to buy, but they said to wait and I knew immediately that they had bought it for. I'm not big on surprises so I have a tendency to find out things beforehand! There were a lot of other things, too...but I won't get into it all...EXCEPT to say that they got me a brushguard for me jeep...that was amazing. I never expected that...but was thrilled nonetheless!!! Well, I took off work tomorrow and Friday, but have a pretty busy schedule regardless so I am going to try to get some sleep now...good night!!! OH, if you get a chance check out my homepage. It is pretty elementary, but I'm learning, so bear with...which is what I have said since day 1 of this blog!!

Okay, I am definitely receding into the Bah Humbug state over here...this is the longest holiday ever, ever, ever... I can’t stand the shopping and the crowds and all the food...okay, my metabolism is gone...forever...and it shows with all the chocolate that is pushed upon me at every turn...(hey, the title is Daily Venting, so deal with some real venting for a moment...). I don’t think I could make it the rest of this week if I didn’t have vacation time... ON THE OTHER HAND...last night with Kenny and Elaine was a lot of fun. We met at Red Lobster and I got to taste Snow Crab Legs for the first time. Strange, seafood being my favorite food and I have never tasted Snow Crab Legs...they were really delicious. Elaine bought me a wonderful journal...yes, I still use an old fashioned hand written journal. She also bought me a leather pen/pencil caddy and both gifts were in a great little red canvas bag...anyone who knows me well enough, knows that there are three things that could easily break me...Shoes, Jackets/Coats, and Bag of any kind! Thanks Elaine...I really loved everything!!! We had a good meal and good conversation, too. Since I have moved up north I don’t get to see Elaine as much as I used to. Tonight mother and daddy and I are exchanging presents b/c dad has to go to work on Friday and will be gone through xmas. Well, I’ve just found out if I get caught up I don’t have to come in tomorrow so I am going to get busy...

just checking...
This is actually yesterday’s post, but I never got around to actually getting it posted... Well, from work I can see the pics...if you can, though, is the question!!! After dropping Chinook off yesterday I made the trek back upstairs, peeled the shirt and pants I was wearing, pulled my PJs back on and laid down to read...er, I mean sleep...well, I did both for a while, for two hours. When I awoke I realized it was time to be at the groomers...so I was a bit late needless to say. Poor baby, he was whimpering and crying...he always does at the vet’s or the groomers. After returning home and getting lunch the plan was to get up, get dressed (AGAIN) and brave the crowds...didn’t happen. Well, at least not for a while. I returned again to my book and between REM cycles and the Quidditch match (I’m reading Harry Potter, Year 4), I didn’t make it out of the house for a few hours! I decided if the company of fellow shoppers would get me motivated...so my parents went out with me to run errands and shop. First step out of the house and the bottom fell out...meaning the rain started pouring!! Yeah, it waited until I mustered up the strength to get my lazy butt out of the house to come down with full force! But that didn’t stop us...we hit Mo’s BBQ to get a gift certificate then Sam’s, then finally to the mall...with the swarms of Christmas shoppers and teenagers who didn’t have to be at school this morning. This is where I ran into my ex’s father...whose name I couldn’t remember for about thirty minutes!!!!! It HAS been two years...c’mon!!! (No, not ex-HUSBAND, didn’t make it down the aisle...thank goodness!!) So that was the clue that it was time to leave the mall...running into people I am not prepared to see doesn’t tend to bring out my cheeriness that everyone is accustomed to. So we went to Bed, Bath, and Beyond and to Best Buy, where I saw the camera my parents bought me for Christmas...hee hee. I tried to convince mother that I should go ahead and open since I know what it is so that I could take pictures at my office party Saturday night...she didn’t go for it! She hates the fact that I don’t like surprises...and that I snoop...Yeah, so??? Well, talking to my grandmother last week I found out that my dear, sweet, perfect, angel of a mother was exactly the same way when she was my age!!! So, I informed her that no longer could she give me grief b/c I liked things out in the open!!! Anyway...after making it through the rain, the teenagers, the obsessed shoppers, and the sales people we finally made it home...where shortly the electricity went out...so our house quickly began to resemble a seance...every candle I could find quickly became illuminated (I was at a good part in the book)...then finally I gave up and just headed to my room and opened up my computer for a while. It gave off more light than the candles anyway...and finally had to surrender to sleep... I made it to the gym this morning...and once again it is back to work. This is a short week, though, b/c I am taking a half day Thursday and all of Friday! Well, I believe that should be enough ranting for today...

Well, it's getting down to the wire now...I still have a few presents left to buy...hopefully I'll get finished today. We had our office Christmas party last night at our admin's house. It turned out really well...and I think everyone had a really good time. I was so tired this morning, though. It was nearly one when we left and I had to get up early today to bring Chinook to the groomers. He looks so precious now!! When I get some new pics taken I'll post them...not that you'll be able to see, though b/c Angel Fire doesn't seem to be displaying any of my pics these days!!

Okay, this is getting really irritating...both sites I have used in the past to keep my pics have been giving me problems. One day one is down the next day it is the other... Last night went pretty well. Went to Three Cheers with some coworkers for Happy Hour...then, as foretold, headed to Prive to meet Elaine and everyone to celebrate her birthday. On the way I stopped off and met with friends to plan dinner. We went to Niko Nikos on the way. It is almost directly across from Prive Lounge and is by far one of my favorite places to eat!!! We had a good crowd out last night...but UTMB (I think) was having a Christmas gathering so the place was entirely too crowded...we were outside and most people preferred to stay in so it wasn't too crowded for us! We had a good time, though. Well, my office party is starting soon so I need to head upstairs to start getting ready...

Just in time to make it to lunch with some coworkers and one of their friends!! It has been such a busy week...and too short to get everything done! I may be spending time Sunday night working...I can't tonight b/c we are having Happy Hour after work, then it is off to Prive to celebrate Elaine's birthday with friends!!! Saturday morning I am going to TRY to get up early enough to take care of some errands and maybe do a little shopping...then we have our office Christmas Party at 6:00 p.m. Sunday I have to finish my Christmas shopping b/c there won't be another chance until Christmas...

So...it's gonna be a busy weekend!!! I just hope I can get all this done today...or at least enough that the rest can wait until Monday!

THE ONION All Seven Deadly Sins Committed At Church Bake Sale GADSDEN, AL—The seven deadly sins—avarice, sloth, envy, lust, gluttony, pride, and wrath—were all committed Sunday during the twice-annual bake sale at St. Mary's of the Immaculate Conception Church.
Okay...this is really sad...my poor guestbook is empty!!!!!! :(
Well, Snorland is no longer available so I won't have a place for comments for a while. They should have at least given an alert or alternate places to subscribe...rather irritating!!! So, until then just sign my guestbook!!! We just finished eating cake...we have a couple birthdays in the office today so everyone huddled up in the conference room to celebrate their births and stuff Crisco covered cake down our throats...just what I needed...

SOLUTION FOR THE LACK OF ATTENTION BY THE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT... Well, I don't like running back and forth between floors every time I am thirsty...so I have just started getting HOT water from the coffee maker!!! No, I don't drink it hot! I fill my cup with ICE and then get HOT water from the spout on the coffee maker, which is usually for making hot tea, cocoa, etc...after a few secs some of the ice melts, but the water is cold and drinkable...unlike the water from the DRINKING WATER fountain!!!!! You ever have one of those days where no matter what happens, everything irritates you...well, I am having one of the LIVES!!!!!!!!! So I am not going to apologize for the depressing entries....maybe I'll do that tomorrow!!! I think we might be going to Nit Noi tonight...that will definitely elivate my mood!!!
For your perusing enjoyment...
MAINTENANCE ISSUES Okay, I know we are in a big building and there are a lot of problems that the maintenance department has to take care of...BUT we called about our water filter (the water had sediment in it) three days ago...TODAY they inform us that the person we contacted wasn't the person that could help us...and instead of passing on the information to the appropriate person...they waited until TODAY to call back and tell us this!!! IRRITATING!! So we have been going down to the 8th floor whenever we want to get H20!!!! Sorry...just had to vent a bit!
Well, I finished Year 3 of the Harry Potter series...Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. So far this is by far and away my favorite!!! After seeing the movie on Monday I was afraid it would change all the images I had conjured on my own, but the only one that really changed was Snape...who was played by Alan Rickman. I had a look alike, but the personalities were different so I a struggling to get back to my own image of Snape!!! We had a typical Egyptian dinner last night of Melokiya . It was delicious and one of my favorites. One of dad's coworkers came to dinner last night and every time he comes to visit my mother makes Melokiyah b/c he likes it so much...which is fine with me!!!! The weather turned really nasty yesterday...it started raining around 4 I guess...I was working so hard yesterday I don't really know what time it started! But I finished my book around 1:00 this morning and it was still pouring!!! Nearly twelve hours of hard rain...I don't know what time is stopped, but it was coming down so hard. I love to fall asleep listening to the rain. My grandmother's house back in East Texas has a tin roof and there is nothing better than lying in bed listening to the sound of the rain beating down on the tin...I think it has more to do with the fact that all this activity is going on outside and the thunder makes it sound like a battle and the rain hitting the tin sounds so fierce and you are lying there, so comfortable and peaceful b/c you are shielded from everything going on just beyond the layers of the roof... I have a sound machine the has a rain sound on it, but it doesn't even compare...

Monday Monday Well, the weekend has come and gone and I realize the more that do and the closer we get to the holidays, the fewer people I pass in the hall on my way to get coffee at work! Ah, those fortunate people who have weeks and weeks of vacation time to take...how lucky I was to use mine up in Spain in March!!! hee hee... Although, this time of year the office is the last place I think about being!!!! As you can obviously tell since I am blogging in the middle of the day instead of going through the mounds of paper work that keeps growing in my inbox and scattered to the far corners of my desk!! There are just much more interesting things within the depths of web blogs than there is hidden within the many dollars of shorebase allocations! But, I found a new interesting blog today...and many other interesting sites that were, well, different! While mine may be boring at times to some, I am just glad it isn't scary! Okay, I have decided upon my Christmas present to myself (since I don't have a significant other to spoil me I do it myself) and I need input! I want a new digital camera!!! I have decided on either a Canon or Nikon...a couple different ones of each brand and can't make a decision!!! I am pretty partial to Canon, but have seen a couple Nikon that I like as well...

TODAY'S ACCOMPLISHMENTS Well, I finally got things done today that I have been wanting and needing to get done!!! After breakfast this morning everyone (I had family in this weekend) headed off to the mall...and after setting up my AT&T account (website - don't know if they are going to be a good service, though) I got dressed and my niece and I headed off to the mall. We got there before noon and surprisingly the mall wasn't near as crowded as I feared it would be! I would finally get to buy the first of my Christmas presents!!! I had to keep reminding myself, though, that I was there to buy presents for everyone else...not for myself, but what was the first thing I bought??? Shoes - for me!!!! Oh well...I deserved them - and really needed them, too!! Then on to Christmas shopping!! After a little while we met up with the rest of the family and they all wanted to go see a movie...so off we went!! My mother, father, aunt, and uncle went to see Behind Enemy Lines, while my niece and I went to see Harry Potter. Yes, I went to see it - FINALLY!!! I am on book three right now, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The movie was good, really good, but I liked the book so much better!!! That is usually the way it is, though. There were a couple of scenes that were altered...the movie was two and a half hours with those sites taken out, so I guess they couldn't put everything in without it being too long!! My favorite scenes were the Quidditch matches!!! When I finish this series I want to get started on the Lord of the Rings trilogy since that movie is coming out now as well. I remember reading The Hobbitt when I was younger and watching the animated movie...but that has been a while back. I may need to read it again before I start the trilogy... Anyway, after the movie we went to Zios for dinner. When we were finished mother, dad, my aunt, and uncle went to the house, while my niece, Latasha, and I went on to try to get some more shopping done! We hit about four more stores outside the mall... Gifts bought: Teresa Riki Elaine Dad (partly...) Present for office party Gifts still to buy: Mother Donna (but I know what to get...) David Dennon Toni Grannie Dad (to finish...) So maybe I'll spend my lunches next week at the mall and get something each day and be done with it!!! I am not a fan of shopping so Christmas time is always crunch time for me b/c I put it all off until the last possible moment...actually, though...this year I am ahead of the game! I am usually down to the day before when I finish buying my Christmas presents!!
